Ok, I was tagged a little while back so I guess it's about time I put up my 8 random facts.
1. I have become very engrossed in the current political situation. I pay a lot of attention to political topics and have watched all the debates so far...something I've never done before. My conclusion: Factcheck.org and Politifact.com are very useful tools. :)
2. I've tried to pay a lot of attention to the financial situation, but I have a lot harder time understanding what they're talking about. What I do understand: It's bad. :(
3. I apparently have an on-again, off-again problem with insomnia, seeing as how it is 2:15AM, and I'm listening to CNN's breaking news about the international financial market.
4. My dog has issues. Anyone who has met my dog needs no further explanation.
5. If all goes well, my name will be on several published research articles fairly soon!
6. I want to see David Cook and Jason Castro in concert again...as soon as possible. They were awesome!
7. As random as I tend to be, I'm having a hard time thinking up 8 random facts. *shrugs*
8. I'm going to do what I did with the "Weird Things About Yourself" list and let y'all come up with the last random fact about me. Can you think of something that you think should be on this list that isn't? Just remember to be nice. ;)
All the travel is exhausting. I haven't been at my apartment for more than 2-3 days at a time since June 22! It's been fun but I need a break ... oh wait, school startup (moving stuff to my new classroom, arranging my room, touring the new building) starts in only 3 weeks, that'll give me a break from traveling!
Happy B-day! Hope you enjoyed your vacation in San Antonio. The pics on Bran's blog are cute. I promise you'll get your card in a more timely fashion than Bran did. Love ya and enjoy being another year older!
Thanks for letting me know about Faye. I'll keep the family and all you guys in my prayers. Please, send my condolances. BTW, did you get your B-day card? I hope you liked it. Take care!
I'm going to the American Idol tour when it comes to Oklahoma City! Just bought my ticket last night, and I am SO excited!!! I loved this season, and it was capped off with my favorite winning the whole thing. The cool thing is that I like pretty much the entire top 10 (who are the ones who go on tour) so I get to see a bunch of artists I like for the price of one ticket. :)
Did any of y'all watch AI this season? If so, who was your favorite?
Cook was my favorite. Since we started watching in season 4 my favorite has alternated between finishing in 2nd and 1st place. But I also liked Renaldo Lapuz too. Somehow he didn't make the top 10 though. :)
VERSE 2
Sixteen short years later,
She was falling for the senior football star.
Before you knew it he was dropping passes,
Skipping practice just to spend more time with her.
The coach said "Hey son, what's your problem? Tell me, have you lost your mind?"
Daddy said you'll lose your free ride to college, boy you better tell her goodbye.
CHORUS
But now he's wrapped around her finger,
She's the center of his whole world.
And his heart belongs to that sweet little beautiful, wonderful, perfect All-American...
For those who don't know, that's the 2nd verse to Carrie Underwood's song, "All-American Girl."
My poll question is:
If you were dating the star of the football team and he started dropping passes and skipping practice for you, would you...
A) Think it was incredibly sweet and fall even more in love with him, OR
B) Tell him he better get his head in the game and stop bailing on his teammates if he wants to keep dating you.
I'm pretty sure that those of you who know me well know what my answer is on that one. I'm just curious to see if there are any more girls like me out there. :) And guys, feel free to add your comments to this as well.
i would go with B even though A is sweet. i would be afraid of his work ethic or his balance on things in life, ya know just in case it ended in marriage. did i think too much about that question?
I'm going with B (big surprise there :-P) Along with her, it just seems kinda inconsiderate and selfish of the girl. Yes, that's kinda sweet that he wants to spend more time with her, but he has responsibilites. If she really likes him, shouldn't she show consideration for him?
What if he could get a scholarship for something else? Maybe baseball, basketball, tennis, pole vaulting, curling, or unicycle racing. The possibilities are endless! Could it be that football is just one of the many sports at which this young man excels? Maybe his father is blind to these other abilities of his son and thinks his future depends on football. So I go with C): not enough information. :-)
Lets see, if i was a football star and some little chikita was disrupting my play...i would have to tell her to get lost. Haha for those that know ME rreeaallyy know that isn't true hahaha
Thank you Erin! Undoing time with others (family and friends) is so difficult and frustrating! I wish more people would think about it like you have! Kids really need structure and routine. Anytime it is disrupted it takes so much time and attention to get back to normal! Are you coming to Clay's graduation this weekend?
Don't have much to put here...Just wanted to say congrats to my Texas Tech Baseball Team, which just took 2 of 3 from the #2 team in the nation (Missouri Tigers)! I love this team because they play hard and they don't give up. And they're fun to watch!
thanks for your prayers. i hope she continues to get steadily better. i appreciate you keeping her in your thoughts and prayers though. hope all is well for you :)
Well, my mom and I will be getting into Lubbock sometime Friday, April 25, evening. I think we're staying with my cousin Jennifer and her husband Jaime so we'll probably go straight there and recoop from the drive. On Saturday my mom bowls at 1 p.m. She'll probably be done around 4 or 5. At the moment, we have no plans that evening so we might be able to do something then. Sunday will be busy with morning services, mom's bowling, evening services, and then starting back toward College Station. So, Saturday evening may be our best bet. Let me know what works for you. Can't wait to see y'all!
Hi Erin. You dad gave me a copy of the hymn that you wrote. I sight read through it. Looks very good. I'm going to copy it and see if we can sing it at the next teenager's class here in W.C. (if you have no objections, that is).
ughh..so i wrote out this long comment and then my computer messed up and deleted it all! lol anyway, I had said that unfortunately, i was not able to stop to worship anywhere due to the fact that most days we were there we were traveling back and forth through different countries on a tour bus so i couldnt leave the group to stay behind. Also, there will be the issue of the language barrier. The worship service will most likely be in French and im not sure if they will have a translator. (im not saying you shouldnt go of course, just mentioning that you might not understand anything! ) I know the truth magazine website has a church locator and i think it will let you look outside the country. If you find one, you might want to try and do a bit of research on it regardless because i dont think all the ones listed are necessarily what you would want to attend. you might be able to get more help from Mike Willis if you can get his contact info (he's in Florida i believe). I think he's traveled a good bit from what I remember. Sorry i couldnt be of more help! :( i hope you can get it worked out okay.
well good! thats a start at least! im glad i could be of a little bit of help. I hope you have so much fun over there! it really is a neat experience. take lots of pictures! will you be at josh and kelsey's wedding? i think im going, but im not sure if Derek will. he thinks one of his tests might be that weekend. we'll see though. take care and have a great week! :)
