Friday, I took the long way to Beeville for Adam's and Ashley's wedding. I went from Katy to Baytown to Katy to Beeville. Nothing like adding an extra 100 miles to a trip. Saturday was just back to Katy. Sunday I made the round trip to Baytown.
The weather here has been lousy lately. Cold and drizzly. Tuesday morning I got up to go to work. It was around 40 and raining. The truck turned over slow but started. When I got ready to go to lunch, it wouldn't start. I had to get it jumped. I drove home at lunch and took the car back to work. When I came out after work, the sun was shining and it was around 70. I started the car and pulled out of my parking place ... stopped ... got out ... put the top down. It was wonderful. This morning it was 39 but clear. The topless drive home was a beautiful 72. Tomorrow is supposed to be around 80. I'm glad spring is here. I was tired of winter.
I replaced the truck battery. The old one was an Interstate 50 month battery. It was purchased in January 2002. 84 months for a 50 month battery was good. I hope the new one lasts that long.
Another family wedding coming up at the end of the month (my Ashley & Josh). I'm trying to do my part by staying out of the way and just doing what I'm told.
I'm not a yankee. It was 80 when we left Houston this afternoon. Now it's 48. I don't like the north. At least I'll warm up tomorrow when I see my grandbabies. Oh ya ... Randall & Lindsey too.
I've gone from having a wife and 3 kids to a wife and 6 kids and 2 1/2 grandkids and I get to spend the next couple of days with all of them. :)
I graduate on Friday. Yesterday was my last day of OJT. The topic in class for Monday is Financial Responsibility (Yes, I do work for a government owned corporation). I don’t know what the topics for Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday are. I’m downtown Monday – Wednesday. Thursday & Friday we’ll be at North Houston. We still don’t know if there will be food at graduation (budget cuts). I have to wear a dark (black or navy) suit at graduation. I didn’t even own a suit. I sprang for a new suit. Surely they can spring for food.
After graduation, I’m temporarily assigned to Bear Creek Station in west Houston until I can find a permanent job. I’m not taking the early retirement but a lot of people that will get more money than me are. A lot of jobs at headquarters and area have been eliminated. As soon as the displaced people get jobs, they’ll post the leftover vacancies from everyone that retired. I’ll end up with one of those vacated spots in a place that people currently living in Washington and Dallas don’t want. I’ll probably end up staying in Houston but I’m hoping for Beaumont. Time will tell. That’s all for now. Bye.
