Ok folks. I need some help here. I am slacking in the "keeper at home" department. I really want to start cooking regular meals for me and my hubby but I have never been one to plan daily meals. I am trying to fill in a whole month but am drawing a blank and need some help. So if you would, either post or email me some of your favorite recipes and/or meal ideas.
(I especially want your glazed carrot recipe seeing as how it is the only way garett is gonna have carrots with his dinner)
I know I can count on you all to help me out. Thanks in advance!
*Note: Don't bother with anything complicated, cause, let's be honest, I'm just not there yet. Quick and Easy is the only way for this working woman.
Crock pot roast. Buy a Chuck Roast. Get large ziploc bag and add 1/4 c flour, 1/2 tsp salt, 1/4 tsp garlic powder. Put roast in baggie and shake to coat. Add to oiled skillet (3 tbsp) preheated on med-high. Brown all sides of roast. Put roast in crock pot and add 2 cans (14.5 oz each) Beef broth. Add 3 stalks celery, potatoes ("baking potatoes", peeled and quartered), and (or) carrots. Cook on LO overnight (8 ish hrs). Pop it in the fridge in the morning and reheat when you get home in the evening. :)
I love to do tacos. Just brown some ground beef (or cook boneless chicken breasts) drain, add a can of tomato sauce or diced tomatoes, add chili powder, cumin, and an onion (optional). Cook for a few minutes. Serve with all the taco fixings.
Stinky Chicken: 4 boneless chicken breasts, 1 can green beans, 4 med potatoes, 1 pkg dry Italian dressing mix, 1 stick butter melted. Preheat oven to 300. Layer chicken in middle of 9x13 dish. Wash and slice potatoes and layer them down one side of the chicken. Open and drain can of beans and layer down the other side. Sprinkle the packet of Italian dressing over everything and then pour melted butter over everything. Bake at 300 for two hours uncovered. It smells so good cooking and is easy and inexpensive.
Asian Beef Casserole: 1 lb ground beef, 1 sm onion chopped, 3/4 cup uncooked rice, 4 T soy sauce, 1 can cream of chicken soup, 1 can cream of celery soup, 1/4 cup of water. Brown ground beef and onion. Drain. Mix everything together. Pour into casserole dish (like a 2qt) Place covered dish into preheated 350 oven and bake for 1.5 hours. Serve with broccoli or a bag of stir fry veggies.
Enough recipes. Here's some ideas in my regular repertoire. LOL Spaghetti, Tacos, Burgers, Cut up chicken with Shake n Bake, Pork Chops, Chicken pot pie, Baked spaghetti, Chicken Alfredo, Chicken and yellow rice, Roast on Sunday, Small precooked ham (like 5 bucks-not the big ones), Cheap hunk of beef in crockpot with bottle of BBQ sauce - make sandwiches, breakfast for dinner, make your own pizza (Jiffy crust for 49 cents, leftover spaghetti sauce, add cheese and toppings)
BTW, if you didn't get a Crock Pot, get thyself to a Walmart ASAP. When I'm working all day, I live for my crockpot. It is the easiest and fastest way to do anything.
FOX NEWS
LOS ANGELES — Dr Pepper is making good on its promise of free soda now that the release of Guns N' Roses' "Chinese Democracy" is a reality.
The soft-drink maker said in March that it would give a free soda to everyone in America if the album dropped in 2008. "Chinese Democracy," infamously delayed since recording began in 1994, goes on sale Sunday.
"We never thought this day would come," Tony Jacobs, Dr Pepper's vice president of marketing, said in a statement. "But now that it's here, all we can say is: The Dr Pepper's on us."
Beginning Sunday at 12:01 a.m., coupons for a free 20-ounce soda will be available for 24 hours on Dr Pepper's Web site. They'll be honored until Feb. 28.
Today is Veteran's day. A much overlooked holiday. But it's the one day to tell those who fought for our country that it was NOT a complete waste.
My dad fought in Vietnam. He rode on the helicopter that picked up the dead and wounded. He never wanted to be there but that doesn't make him any less of a hero in my eyes. I'm thankful for his sacrifice and thankful that God let him come home. If you get a chance PLEASE give him the thanks he didn't get when he got home. I know it's a little late in the day, but I'm sure he won't mind if the thanks is a day (or 40 years) late.
Thanks DAD! I appreciate you and what you had to go through for an unappreciative country.
I promise I am working on posting photos very soon. We have our gospel meeting this week and there is a lot of work to get done around the house before i start my job...on Monday! Like putting a sink in the bathroom, for example. Today, I had Garrett hang a mirror above the kitchen sink and now I think I can manage until the weekend if need be.
