Rude Awakening! 08-11-08 10:31am EST
Larry and I sat at the FSU graduation Saturday. Jonathan graduated Cum Laude. (you can tell I didn't...I don't even know if I spelled it right!) Anyway, he had a 3.6+ and I sat there wondering "how" could I possibly prepare my children for a good education! Public vs. private schools, homework, HOMEWORK?!? How could I possibly help with MATH? I didn't even know how to do my own, much less anyone elses years later!

Then Caroline asked...."When are we coming back to Tallahassee?" I thought, 13 - 14 years...or more!! That's when I really got overwhelmed. We'll be in our 60's when our kids go to college!! YIKES! Friends our age are graduating theirs, while we prepare for Caroline's first official day of 1st Grade next Monday! SHe loves school and learning. That helps! But then there's Christian....Will he even make it to college?? He can't even sit still during dinner without wanting to go outside to play! Oh dear.....!!

Anyway, I'm thankful I can share these concerns with God, friends & family to help give me guidance I'll need. I know with HIS help, I won't fail them, so at least I feel more confident about going down this new path! You are ALL welcome to help....I'll need all of it I can get!!

I guess its true what they say about the "Village" and the help we need with raising our children! It also helps having a very supportive Husband that loves every aspect of parenting! (Well, most "every" aspect!) :)
theauntIt all happens so fast. I've just Tim off on his first official day as a high school dude. I'm leaving to go and pick him up! I never would have thought that he would learn to sit still. (Then again, maybe he hasn't yet learned.) Time will tell.
turner120995The way I see it is this... After raising children, parents are exhausted. How great for us that we will be at retirement age! Pity those poor parents that will still have to be in the workforce for another 20 years.
turner120995Oh, and didn't didn't you read her blog entry heading, which says "I usually don't like change." With no updates since the beginning of the year, I think that is obvious! :)
themotherI wish I had a sister bracelet for you! Maybe we should start over on those, since most of you are wearing silver/white gold now and don't wear the yellow!
themotherMine has been and continues to be a great comfort to me!
harbermamaIt was good to see you Sunday. Oh, and don't pity us empty_nesters who still have 20 more years...we get time to save up for retirement, whereas he will be bone dry after 4 children in college! :-)
theauntCarpet...ahhhhh!
themotherAre you keeping dry?
leahhallnoatsHappy Belated Birthday, Aunt Holly! Love you!
beejayHi Holly! I would love to bring the whole family down to meet you, but you don't know what you are asking when you invite us to stay... That would be 3 rowdy BOYS ages 6, 8 and 8 and a rowdy (but sweet) 11 year old girl. We have fun together! Great post above. I have worried about raising my kids since before they were born!
motherofallCheck out my blog (12/23). :)

You just never know.... 07-29-08 09:35am EST
OK, its been at least a year since I've been on the "blog" scene. Since things are happening so fast in Nashville, I figured I better get the scoop by reading "His & Hers" blogs. So,
then after reading all the "latest" I decided I needed to at least update my own blog.

Nothing here to tell....just staying busy during the summer with the kids. I'm so blessed I could stay home with them this summer, and have loved every minute of being a summer "Mom". Now with just a few days before school starts back, I must get back into some type of routine so we can hit the ground running Aug. 18th.

As my subject line states....you just never know. You never know when someone will post on a blog; You never know when a friend can find true love; You never know when your niece and nephew-in-law move to one of your favorite places; You never know.....so I must get busy and read more blogs & find out!! :)
theauntI con't believe you updated! I really wish I could see you!
thefloridaauntI know...its been way too long. We have tried to plan a couple of trips to Atlanta, but they've either fallen through, or no one was there for us to visit!! :) Anyway, I hope we can see you soon.
jlmanager:)
themotherSo glad you're back!
theeditoryay. glad you're back. I wrote a clarification blog so check it out.
leahhallnoatsMiss you guys! I was just telling Rebecca this weekend that we need to take advantage of our living near each other before we don't anymore! I just moved into a house down the road from FC, so I have a new address and lots of unpacking to do. I'm finished with one of my classes on August 8th, and I'm done with my job on the 15th. let me know if you need a babysitter those few days before school start. it would be a great excuse to see you all!
thefloridaauntI agree! Its hard when we have such different schedules...its like being on different planets! I'd love to see you, so let's plan to talk soon.
thefloridaauntWe are leaving for Tallahassee early tomorrow a.m. and then coming back late Saturday. Jonathan is graduating from FSU so the "family" is headed north!
theauntHey, I was in Athens last week and Caneta met up with me for tea at McD's. It isn't bad. It was good to catch up with her. She sounds so busy, but she thinks relief is around the corner. I've got to get her to Six Flags this fall. She says she'll go with us!
themotherWe're back! It is beautiful out there! Was trying to remember where it was you lived, since I saw several places that looked similar to what I remembered. The night we rolled into town we had a gully-washer! Madae it a traditional move!
