Where I've Been 11-24-08 07:02pm EST
Sick this past weekend, in Clemson the weekend before with my family, and on a retreat in Panama City Beach three weeks ago. This semester has been crazy; I look forward to seeing all of you again soon.

More Haikus 11-23-08 11:54pm EST
Not too original of a post, I know, but I don't have time for much else at the moment. Here are the last few Haikus of the Week:

A warning to all
Of dangerous wealth and greed
Is Steinbeck's The Pearl.

CCF tonight
And then on to PCB
Everyone should come!

Fun in the sunshine
The joy of seven new souls
Alive in the Son.

Time ticking away
I look around in wonder
At where it has gone.

I see shadowlands
The world a dim reflection
Waiting on the dawn.

Haiku(s) of the Week 10-27-08 08:56pm EST
*Two weeks ago, written for use at CCF Open Mic Night*
Fall leaves are pretty
But they're also depressing
I need a girlfriend.

*Last week; I actually survived without caffeine*
Homecoming is here
Will I ever get some sleep
Red Bull is my friend.

*For this week, based on a concert from Saturday night*
Galactic concert
Missing pieces of my mind
It got blown away.
dixiechickTeaching tomorrow
Feel like I'm gonna throw up
I'm so unprepared.
edBrain is a Fried Egg, I'm terrified of my child, Dreams made of pillows

dixiechickMy lesson went well
I did end up getting sick
But I felt better.
thehandofthekingThanks for reading it. The haiku is about the Florida-Georgia game.
absBeen trying to think.
Of a haiku to post here.
It's not working out.
lilbecill be home tuesday night, the 25, and i leave sunday afternoon, the 30th!
firestahThere is Kava Bar in Florida that I plan on visiting soon. It is family friendly. Only serves Kava so no alcohol, no age restrictions. I want to know what to expect before I get there. You should read the blogs. they talk about some of the crazy stuff. Riding wild horses across the island. Standing on the edge of a volcano as it erupts. Pix are amazing. The highs are extreme and so are the lows.

Keys to understanding the current financial crisis 09-30-08 11:09pm EST
If you'd like to know what's going on in the financial markets and why the government wants to take $700 billion of our money to fix it, take the time to check out the following two links.

Afterwards I think you will agree with me that this bailout plan is a pathetic idea.

CNN article by one of the 166 academic economists that signed a petition to Congress against the bailout bill.

YouTube video explaining the history of the Community Reinvestment Act and why that's the root problem.

sarahsmileIs this your strange and odd way of professing your love to someone?
sarahsmilecode? I've been talking to engineers the last two days and everything seems to be in code.
sarahsmileHere is the Avett Bros song I was telling you about. Just push play on the player on the side to hear the entire song...fo free!!

Murder in the City 09-21-08 10:22pm EST
*I didn't write this, but my sentiments are the same.*

If I get murdered in the city
Don’t go revengin in my name
One person dead from such is plenty
No need to go get locked away

When I leave your arms
The things that I think of
No need to get over alarmed
I’m comin home

I wonder which brother is better
Which one our parents love the most
I sure did get in lots of trouble
They said to let the other go

A tear fell from my father’s eyes
I wondered what my dad would say
He said I love you
And I’m proud of you both, in so many different ways

If I get murdered in the city
Go read the letter in my desk
Don’t worry with all my belongings
But pay attention to the list

Make sure my sister knows I loved her
Make sure my mother knows the same
Always remember, there is nothing worth sharing
Like the love that let us share our name
Always remember, there is nothing worth sharing
Like the love that let us share our name

- The Avett Brothers
thehandofthekingThat's why I put it up there.
