As most of you know, Alyssa will be turning 2 in February. We want to start up a daily bible study with her soon. Here are my questions:
1. For those of you with kids ... what did you do / try to do with your little ones?
2. Those of you with or without kids ... have you found any good material for daily bible study with small children?
3. What did your parents do with you?
I figure it'll probably only consist of 10 minutes at first (which is probably about 9 1/2 minutes more than her attention span) but you have to start somewhere.
Any suggestions would be helpful. I'm just starting to look into this ... as she gets older we'll probably do something like a chapter a night ... but that's a few years down the road.
There are some great children's Bibles that work for stories for that age. Thomas Nelson has at least one that is accurate and at a child's level, but not dumbed down to pointlessness.
It's been a while since I posted any pictures of Alyssa, so I thought I'd do that. She is getting so big, and really isn't much of a baby anymore. I guess it's official, we have a toddler! I know she is going to make a great big sister when Tyler gets here in two months. (That's right, we picked a name.)
Her favorite time of day is right before bedtime when she gets to play with her favorite person... Daddy! She laughs nonstop whenever they play. (That's who she's looking at in the second picture)
We breed giants. Just got back from Alyssa's 18 month check up and she is so tall, she's not even on the growth chart anymore. She is 34 inches which is greater than 95%, and roughtly 27 pounds which was 85-90%. Her doctor said she needs to act her age, and not her height. Ha.
I don't know if this will prove true or not, but I've heard that if I double her height at her 18 month appointment I can find out how tall she will be. If it is true, she will be 5'8" ... wow. We'll find out in 15 or so years. :)
actually, I've heard that you take their heigth at 2 years old and double it. I think you can get a general idea of their future heigth, but who's to say that it's totally accurate.
It's a boy! The doctor moved our due date back to November 25. 2 days before Thanksgiving! I will be induced again, hopefully the week before. I definitely don't want a baby on Thanksgiving week! Picking out names this time is proving more difficult. Boy's names are hard. Hopefully we'll decide on one by baby time! :)
Thanksgiving week isn't so bad. I hardly knew it was a holiday growing up and I always thought it was nice to have a couple days off of school around my birthday...but that's just me.
We had a hard time with boy names too. Luke was due the day after Thanksgiving in 2006. I chose to be induced 9 days early. I didn't want to be in the hospital on Thanksgiving and I didn't want to be at home a miserable either. Congrats on a boy!!
