Update-Please go welcome our good minister and friend Aaron and give him pleo tips! Tommy and I feel so priviledged to count Anna and Aaron and their children as friends. Add him to your friends list he has good thoughts!
A lot has been going on around here, but it is not interesting enough to report. I have missed everyone as our internet has been down for a few days. I am gearing up the holidays. I love Thanksgiving and JT and I have started a unit study on Thanksgiving. He is adorable when he says Mayflower and Cornucopia. He wants to put the Christmas tree up now because his Aunt NNDI did yesterday. I keep telling him that mommy has a very strict policy that no and I mean NO Christmas decorations enter this home until we have given the proper thanks at Thanksgiving. No offense to my crazy little sis who likes to enjoy her tree longer and also who I know loves Thanksgiving day, but why do people not want to give this holiday it's due? It is very biblical, and although I think we should give thanks to God on a daily basis not just on the fourth Thursday in November, I also feel that we should embrace Thanksgiving in all it's historical value before we bring in the gaudy tackiness of Christmas.
Don't get me wrong. I am not a hater of Christmas, in fact, I quite enjoy this holiday and I always have. I was always the first one up growing up and my sisters are still scarred for the early mornings. Hey, it is a crime to be up later than 7:30am on Christmas morning!!! I am also enjoying Christmas time with children. It reminds me a little of the Running of the Bulls in Spain. Or with the paper flying around, Times Square at midnight New Years.
Back to Thanksgiving...What are some of your favorite traditions or dishes? We like Sweet Potato Casserole in my family. My sister-in-law makes a wonderful pumpkin role and how could I forget Turkey hotshots on Thanksgiving night! One of my favorite traditions is FOOTBALL!!!! But most of all I love the family and the bounty in which we can all glorify and thank the one it came from! Enjoy your November leading up to Turkey Day! |

Mr. Aaron Kemple our preacher at West Broad gave a wonderful sermon yesterday afternoon on things to keep in mind this week as we face changes in our country and government. I really appreciated it and some of these passages gave me real peace about what could, may and will happen.
Romans 13:1-"Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God."
Proverbs 14:34-"Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people."
Proverbs 21:1- "The king's heart is like channels of water in the hand of the Lord; He turns it wherever He wishes."
God to King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon: "...In order that the living may know that the Most High is ruler over the realm of mankind, and bestows it on whom He wishes and sets over it the lowliest of men." (Daniel 4:17)
Jesus to Governor Pilate: "You could have no power at all against Me unless it had been given you from above." (John 19:11)
God to Pharoah, King of Egypt: "For if by now I had put forth My hand and struck you and your people with pestilence, you would then have been cut off from the earth. But, indeed, for this reason I HAVE ALLOWED YOU TO REMAIN, in order to show you My power and in order to proclaim My name through all the earth." (Exodus 9:15-16)
Last but certainly not least, God ALLOWED Manasseh, king of Judah, to reign for 55 years. He was horrible and wicked. He put a carved image in the house of the Lord. He sacrificed his children to idols and he practiced witchcraft, soothsaying and the use of mediums. And the Lord let him stay on the throne for 55 years.
Puts things in perspective...doesn't it...we get a new choice in four years. No matter what happens and no matter who takes office God is in control! Praise him today. |

Is it a Christian's duty to vote?
I feel very strongly one way, but I would like to listen to others. So, what do you think, in light of the word, is the answer. Please be nice to others. |

Okay so this one is a little less serious, but what about....
Concrete lawn geese?
Why have one?
Why dress one up?
The people that own them do know that they are not real, right?
