Hopefully, my last post did not incite anyone to go and purchase a Swiffer Wet Jet...or whatever the commerical's even for...as so many of you said, and I do agree, it's worthless.
For months I used a Swiffer Wet Jet *believing* that my floors were clean. THEN, the first time we were getting our house ready to sell, we had our carpets cleaned. The carpet cleaner machine just barely brushed over the kitchen floor and VILE!! all the grime and dirt the SWJ had been leaving behind was exposed in comparison to what the machine had just barely touched.
I can't even rationalize it for quick cleans. AND it seems several of you have had similar experiences, which goes to show you: Great marketing does not mean great product.
Not that you didn't know that.
ANYWAY, to go back to my "moving on" pun...tonite is our last nite to be homeless! Not that we were technically ever homeless, as the Hicks have shared their home with us over the past six (is that right?!) months...BUT if all goes as planned we will close on our house tomorrow morning! :) We are super excited!
And I'm off to bed...we're implementing a new bedtime starting tonite: 10:00! We'll see how long we can keep it up, but "they" say your best hours of sleep are before midnite...we're gonna give it a shot.
I thought of you today because for some random reason I remembered it was Anna Brand's birthday. And then I thought of you because your name is also Anna. And then I thought about cake because I was hungry.
Congrats, Seestor! Can't wait to see your new place. You still up for Thanksgiving??!! I'll bring the broccoli casserole ingredients and a pecan pie. :D
yes, Angela was quite the beautiful bridesmaid. We had a wonderful time and everything was perfect, just the way we wanted it without any hitches. Thanks so much for the well wishes!
Hm, I had been wondering if I should go for a Swiffer- I guess not! I really don't like mops. I tend to just use a rag on my hands and knees- I can see if its getting clean! Course, I don't do it as often as I should... ;)
Hey Anna! How is Steven doing? I was in Birmingham a few weeks back and it was announced he was doing a gospel meeting at Flint Hill, but not feeling good at all.
Haha! I agree! We have so much catching up to do when you get home! Oh wait...it's Thursday! You ARE home! Yay! I'm mad at you for not calling me back until 3:00!! Mrs. I'm-not-busy-at-all-just-working-on-my-tan-on-the-beach! ;)
Hello Mrs Alex!! Did you have a blast at the beach? Ithink about you a lot too. Life gets soo crazy and time gets away unfortunately! Lydia and I have started a deal that we meet at the park on Tuesday mornings at 10. We've done it once so far...let's see if we keep it up! But hey, we're 1 for 1 so far!!
Cute! But I am wondering if anyone else uses the Swiffer wet jet and notices the floors are still dirty. I can get down and wipe with a wet towel after mopping and my towel is dirty.
Yes, I have the new mop and I'll never go back, well Joe uses it more than I do!!! Auntie needs to post pics of her adorable nephew Evan!!! Please remember me in prayer as I go through breast cancer screening.
CRAZY! How funny, I am glad I made your dreams. I miss everybody too..maybe when Lilia gets older we can head out your way. I saw a swiffer commerical the other night and thought of you..ha.
ANNA!!! I MISS YOU!! :( Hope to get to catch up with you soon, girl! I really miss the talks we have together..You and Anna and I. Love you both so much! *hugs*
Swiffer wet jet is high on my list of the most useless and ineffective products ever. My guess is the people who invented it are the ones who are never home to make messes, eat out for every meal, yet mop every day anyway.
i'd absolutely love to get together...we're moving at the end of the week, though, so we're going to be incredibly busy...you guys want to mee off of 280 sometime?
and I have read/commented on at least half of all those white names glaring at me.
Then I thought, hey, I'll post something. A good idea right...since it's been eons since I've even been on here!
We've been busy, busy, but in fun ways! Theme song of this post would be that "CH-CH-CH-Changes" song...you know the one I'm talking about?
I FINALLY after hours and hours and days of searching for jobs...anything from Interior Design, to CAD Design, to bank tellering, to receptionisting...I got a job at a local restaurant in downtown Woodstock. What a relief, right?
Weeellll, our house went under contract the next weekend. It was the third person to look at our house and she absolutely fell in love with it...and we love her for loving it. She's really awesome and will be married within the year. We don't even know if she's dating anyone or not, but that's the only fate of those that live under that roof. Greg (the first guy) moved in, got married, moved out. Steven, married. Anthony, married. Me..well, married. Robin, married. :) It's the Love House. And we were sad to leave it. Needless to say, I also left the job that was only three minutes from our house and had taken me three months to get. I actually also left two paychecks that I have yet to pick up. That's okay...it was a very fun job. :) And later, when I pick them up, it will feel like free money. :)
So, the past month, I've been packing, got to go visit my FAVORITE NEPHEW IN THE WORLD!!! and my FAVORITE SISTER IN THE UNITED STATES!!! (I can say that right??) I also got to have the shingles!! Woo-hoo!! ;) I was DEAD to the world. That week of my life is gone. I was either asleep, out of it, or asleep. It wore me out. During this time I also took some massive horse pills. I would strongly recommend never getting shingles...or herpes. Same pill...same gargantuan size.
ANYWAY, all that ("that" being job, home, sickness...not nephew) is behind us and we've moved on to bigger and better things...CUMMING!! :) Because we so quickly sold our home (we were expecting it to be months in this market), we didn't have time to find a new one. We looked and looked and looked, but it was obvious we were under enough stress as it was (see above paragraph: SHINGLES), so we put that on hold for a little while. The Hicks, a family from church here in Cumming, have offered us their basement as living quarters until we find a new home! That way we don't have to flush money down the toliet in an apartment. Sooo nice. :)
Something I have come to love by this DAY 6 in Cumming with the Hicks? Getting up early! Steven now rides a commuter bus to work from the Cumming fairgrounds to Downtown ATL. There are multiple times to get on the bus, but he prefers the 6:30 ride. This means leaving by 6:10-6:15 and getting up about 5:45. I'm not one to naturally love to get up early, but it has been great. It's amazing what an extra hour or two in the morning will get you!! This explains me being able to post on Pleonast. :) (Sidenote: if Steven was not getting up in the morning, I would *never* pull myself out of bed before 7...and by 7, I really mean 8)
Sooo. That's what is happening here, with just a few more sips of some WCP left.
Also, do you know why some places of business have apostrophes in their name? Such as Chili's and Lowe's....what are they either "owning" or "is"?? What belongs to Chili?? Lowe is what?? Or is there another reason entirely why this is acceptable?
Okay, my WCP is gone and so am I...
********** IMPORTANT UPDATE **********
(insert SUPER excited voice here) ---> H & M IS COMING TO ATLANTA!!
Alpharetta to be exact. I am a wee bit excited about this...
They own their business, right? Like if they say Lowe's with Hardware Store underneath...aren't they talking about Mr. Lowe owning his hardware business? I don't know...it's a mystery to me!
Hey Anna! You're moving?!?! No way! I hope you find a house soon, so I can visit! It's been so long. :( I miss you all, but yes we need to catch up. ;) I can call you so we can chat! When are free?
Hey Anna! You have been busy. We are doing well. Jeremy got a new job in February, so the end of October until then was pretty rough. But things are looking up. I am still working at Carrabba's two days a week. I like the break to get out of the house by myself. I am trying to get a teaching job at Nathaniel's school for the fall. I have a wonderful neighbor and friend who wants and needs to keep Micah and Kylee. Hopefully it will all work out. Okay, call me stupid, but what is H and R?????
Wow. You seem to have been busy. Happy for the update, Anna! Shingles..oh, Man! Never had them before. *just asked mom after putting that on here just now.*haha! Had to make sure on that before clicking comment.;) anyway, Great on the house!:) Call me soon! Love and miss you..
Hey Ninja, leave some cake for me!! I'm thinking me, you, a case of wcp's and two bags of reese's and a full tank of gas. We're Ninjas! we can go anywhere!
H&M is short for Heinz and Moritz. They are a FABULOUS (google 'em) Clothing line. It's good to hear that the good people in ATL finally have access to one! That makes my transition a tad bit easier... :)
are you still making sacks? I saw your website a while ago but was curious if you guys were still doing it? I have always prided myself on not having to carry a purse and really enjoyed the freedom. However, my life is about to undergo a big change when I have to start working at the hospital; I'm going to need a bag/sack/non-laptop case to put my stuff in. I refuse to be caught wearing a purse...ever...so I was curious about your simple sacks. (I know that ultimately purse versus sack is simply a war of semantics, but I choose to fight that war to the last, ha ha)
Hey! Congrats on your new job! How is Simple Sack going? I finally decided to set up shop on etsy ... I'm working on making a banner and stuff and getting set up. I searched for you and saw your have The Simple Sack screenname reserved (at least I assume that's you!) but didn't have any listings so I was curious how things were going with that! Anyway, sounds like life is busy and wonderful for you! Hope to see you sometime!
I miss snow! Sleeping in, a day off of school, sledding down our neighbors super steep slope, destroying every square inch of snow in our yard and then proceeding to climb onto the rooftop to annihilate that as well...
Wow, how long has it been since we've had snow like that? Keep in mind "snow like that" is actually anything over 2 inches. It doesn't take much to make me happy. :) I'm elated over the flurries that are drifting into our backyard right now!
So Aunt Anna, congratulations to you too! I can actually relate to your spot more than I can Lydia's, you know her being a mom now and all. But I will say this, being an aunt is so cool! You get all the perks and none of the "non-perks". (Granted my brother refers to me as the natzi aunt when it comes to my nephew because I am pretty strict with him at times, but it's still fun, ha ha, for me at least.) I know you already are an aunt with Liz and Lauren but it's so much fun to see them from the beginning. Way cool!
I hope you are at church tomorrow! How are you feeling? The girls are moving upstairs in 2-3 days. They could go this weekend but we are not quite through so we're not pushing it.
i had SUCH a great time visiting & chatting with you this afternoon. 3 hours FLEW by, huh? i'm really glad we got to catch up & really we shouldn't let it go so long! ;o)
Glad to hear you lived through the plauge! or chickie poxie--a cute name for a cute sickness! I am sure you were sad to see the little poxies go--hopefully for the last time. oh, and i know you are moving and it's no excuse, but come on! January was your last post? Has nothing happened that you can not log it on myFace or here or on the phone or anything? Anna, I expected more from you. Oh are you going to the kitchen? Grab me a WCP. Wanna talk about what we're doing today, but then only do half of it or none of it? Good. While we are talking, there's no harm in making a batch of cookie dough. What was that? lunch? sure ceaser salad sounds good. Let's go to the store. I MISS YOU......and I was serious about the WCP's.
Anna, it may be time for a new post. I have been teaching now for almost two years. I quit DFCS without a job b/c a good friend was unjustly fired. I was out of work for a week and then had a teaching job. I am going to school online and teaching. This year I am the lead teacher too.
hey anna. How you been?I tried emailing you before we moved but,I don't guess you got it.But, give me a call sometime so we can catch up.Takecare! lOVE AND miss you!
Ooh, now is the time where I *really* start to love this time of year. Everything is soo close. It's cold outside. We've been listening to Christmas music since Thanksgiving and I'm JUST on the verge of getting sick of it...that sounds bad, but maybe you know what I mean. We're one day away...more like about 14 hours away...from seeing my *WONDERFUL* family, not that I'm biased...but oh-so-blessed!! I also have finished cleaning the house, baking, and am ALMOST done with laundry, so we can pack!
Tiger Lily is making the trip with us. She is super excited, let me tell you! She knows I've been packing up her stuff...little does she know what awaits her on the other end of the drive tomorrow...dun, dun, duuuunnn...Eli. Do you guys remember that other kitten we had about this time last year?? Well, we gave him to my parents (I don't remember if I told you that or not) and he is the most *beautiful* cat ever. Not kidding..he even beats TL if you can imagine! ;) Anyway, as my dad says, he's a "killing machine." Always bringing home dead rabbits, birds, small children, and the like. Well, last visit...he tried to eat Tiger Lily!! Needless to say, she was a tad bit scared and remained huddled in the furthest corner of their home the entire visit. So, this time we're gonna try a different method of getting her adjusted at Mom and Dad's. We'll see what happens, but hopefully we will return with TL, unmarred and with all her appendages...
Okay...how did I even get off on that tangent. See, this is what happens when I get on here and my fingers start dancing over the keys. Not a lustful dance...just a happy dance. :) Oooh, I'm so excited! It's been really neat to have Steven so excited with me!! I mean, I (emphasis on I) know how awesome my family is and can't wait to see them, but to have Steven know how awesome my family is and be excited to see them too, now that is fun stuff! AND we're not giving gifts this year so we just get to wallow in family time together!!
Here are some things I can't wait to do over the holidays (in no particular order...they're *all* at the top):
* see my should-be-huge-by-now prego Seestor, Lydia... and her husband, Cody, of course
* eat popcorn and play cards with my Grandma
* get high on the swings with Steven
* help my dad clean out the blockhouse
* feel my little nephew kick me (Lydia still hasn't gotten him under control with all that)
* cook with my mom
* hug my Auntie Sherry
* talk to my little nephew
* enjoy my Uncle Jack's guitar playing (if I'm lucky, Steven's too!)
* perhaps (fingers crossed) get to visit some old friends, teachers, and coaches
* decorate the tree with my family
Oooh, that's an exciting list! :) What are things *you* are excited about doing over the holidays??
AND, what's your favorite song playing this time of year??
I'll go ahead and share some of mine...since I can. :)
Third place is "Sleigh Ride"...but really the version by Andy Williams. This one's okay, just don't focus on the video...you'll get dizzy.
This one is my favorite!! "Baby, it's cold outside." This is the BEST version, but again, the video's a tad strange. Oh, and anyone who knows Anthony Lynch...does the guy in the video remind you of him? :) Really just the mouth area...anyway...
Okay...and this one is also my favorite! :) Really, it's not so much the song, "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen", but what it becomes when these two musicians get together. I just love BNL's sound and OF COURSE, Sarah McLachlan's voice!! The two of them mixed...delicious!! ;)
And with all that said, heard, and read...I hope you *all* have an absolutely wonderful time spent with family and friends enjoying the holidays!! Be safe traveling!!
In the "Baby it's cold outside" Gregg and I think it is the same person, what do you think? Have lots of fun in Knoxville, wish we could be there! Anyways, give your preggo sister a hug from me and my preggo belly. Tell good ole Marc' and Dave I said "Hello". Oh, and when you come out here..hint hint...The Grand Canyon is close to us. Have a wonderful holiday vacation.
Yeah, the woman and the man are the same person in that video. It does look like Tone, though...not sure what that says about that woman in the video or Tone, but whatever! Merry Christmans, Anna! p.s. I'm a scrooge when it comes to Christmas music. All of it drives me nuts. Maybe next time Andy Williams comes to town with his Christmas special you can fill in as Terri's daughter so mom doesn't drag me to it again.
Hmmm...well, are they both the same woman or man?? I really can't tell!! (Just say man incase Anthony, or more realistically Robin, ever comes across this! haha) And you're on! :)
Thanks, Anna!! Which card did I send you? I sent out four different kinds!
I hope you enjoy your holiday time with your supposed SUPERAWESOMETOTALLYWONDERFUL family. Just so you know- they aren't nearly SUPERAWESOMETOTALLYWONDERFUL as my family. ;)
But you have me beat because I don't own any people named Steven or cute cats named Tiger Lily.
Ok, I couldn't even finish watching that 2nd video...it was weirding me out! :) Tone? Maybe..I think it may be the skinny beard/goatee thing and pointy chin..? :) Have fun with your fam!! Merry Christmas!
glad you had a good holiday! how long will y'all be in town for??? well considering tonight is my last night in Oak Ridge before I head north to Louisville & then NYC!!!
no no no, ya'll mean so much to me..and i think so highly of you two, thanks..a lot..and DEFINITELY A GIRLS' WEEK WOULD WORK!! i'm up for it! I love you, a bunch, and i can't wait to see ya in Heaven!
It's very surreal but in such a good way. I floated around for a good 10 days after it all happened. And while a wedding is fun and great, I agree that the engagement is cool in the fact that people can celebrate with you immediately and you can talk with everybody one on one. In a wedding the celebration is of course on a much more grand scale ya know? So yes ma'am I will be sure to soak it up. I hope you guys had a terrific holiday. Glad you got to see both of your sisters!
i hope i took some pictures (: but we just ended up celebrating new year's with my aunt and her family. and that second video was cracking me up! whew that just brightened up my day haha.
He does kind of look like Brandon Cline now that you mention it. Yeah, New Years became a totally different crowd about 3 years ago. Josh will be teaching here 3 nights a week, but they decided that he will commute from Loudon, so they are actually living with the Aaron's. We won't be seeing much of either of them since they won't be living here. :-/ David is doing a good deal better thankfully.
