So, our trip to Eagle Crest is coming up. Just got ready to let Debbie know our numbers for Mt. Bachelor and found out that our league basketball games that were canceled the last week of school before break (snow, ice) were rescheduled that Saturday! Of course, that is the way it works. So ... no snow trip for the girls, but they will head over Saturday evening after the bbx games. I will be saving some money - but bummer!
Chantelle and Sarah are FINALLY over their eye virus. I was pretty upset with them in November and December cuz they kept giving each other pink eye - like 5 times each, before I decided (with prompting from Chantelle) to take them to the "eye" dr. Chantelle's eyes were so bad - they were hurting her terribly, she was even missing school from the pain. Well, the eye dr chewed us out for not bringing them in sooner and it wasn't pink eye, but a virus. The pink eye med was feeding the virus. Yes, I was wrong and had to apologize for getting angry at them for not washing their hands better. Chantelle had to wear her glasses for 4 weeks before she could wear contacts and her vision is not so good & that has been tough on her. She was able to play some bbx after she got use to the glasses. Sarah's vision isn't so bad, so not a big deal for her. Chantelle is VERY happy to be back in Contacts today!
I am researching scholarships today cuz really some are just not worth our time to fill out. Some, brea doesn't qualify for.
A note to high schoolers - KEEP YOUR GPA UP and GET INVOLVED in activities in and out of school. Record and keep everything! Okay that's my advice & you will be soooo glad you did!!!
Sydney and Matthew have their first b.ball games this Saturday. We'll see how it goes! Bummer about the snow trip for the girls. That used to happen to me all the time with sports. I missed a very cool trip to Disneyland one year!
Amen! Do everything you can to make yourself eligible for scholarships. I received over $15,000 in scholarships and it was well worth it. I am with Chantelle on the whole glasses/contacts thing...I hate wearing my glasses!
The Holidays have been fun. The girls have enjoyed some down time and little bit of basketball. Our tournaments got canceled and that was a bummer!! I so enjoy watching them all play.
Brea had a game Monday night and they won, but it was ugly. Chantelle's team won by like 30. Sarah has been practicing bbx during the break. Brett is coaching her team for the Winter league.
Looking forward to a nice relaxing day tomorrow - oh and filling out the fafsa for brea. The fafsa worksheet is done and ready to go, so hopefully that will go smoothly.
We've had some snow - not nearly as much as our neighbors 1-3 hours north of us though! Last week, we had 2 days plus one 2-hour delay off of school. More kiddos for me here, but we had fun!
Sarah made the most of the snow with her friends. They took the disks and off they went to the closest hill to sled. They had a ton of snow ball fights & had a super time. Brea & Chantelle did some snow fun, but mostly enjoyed the warm inside playing wii games. They had their friends over too - so it was quite the merry time in our house.
Sadly, all of our regular basketball games were canceled during the week and our 2 bbx tourneys were also canceled. I was bummed and I know the girls were as well. Brea is ready to play after missing games due to her concussion. Luckily, Chantelle does have a game tonight - yeah for me!
Saturday the kids and their friends made gingerbread houses. It was fun watching them.
Done and ready for Christmas now. Shopping with the masses was a challenge.
The weekend was fun. I got to watch Chantelle & Gobbi sift the powdered sugar - 9.5 cups and they had a great time doing it. lol. Then I watched Brea, Chantelle, Sarah & friends roll the mint dough & flatten them. It was comical. The night before Brea, Sarah & Jose rolled out the hundreds of peanut butter balls. I have to say that everyone has a new appreciate for those yummy treats. Somethings are just priceless.
Brea is out of basketball for a week or so. She got a concussion Monday night while playing in the game. They did a cat scan cuz a few of her tests were not right. The cat scan was clear, she just has to spend the next few days/week chill'
in. Funny cuz the dr said he really doesn't want her thinking too much while her head hurts - so no school. Just what we all want - our kids not thinking - lol
Chantelle has 2 more games this week and Sarah has 1. Then hopefully Saturday we can all finish up with the goodies for Christmas. The time is sneaking up on us.
Brett got the tree down yesterday. We are going to wait until Brea feels better to decorate it. I put up all my inside decorations and NOW it feels like Christmas.
My daycare is full now. I have been running low since about April. Nice to have fewer numbers, but not so nice on the wallet. God always provides and here I am with a full crew.
Snowman are my favorite holiday decoration!!! I love it! We are having a hard time getting festive here. We have the living room tore up a bit as we are moving the TV to a new little spot in the wall and I am really pushing for a NEW bigger, flatter, screen. Ron is doing swing shift for a few weeks and so our routine is a little bit disjointed, but I like having him at home in the mornings. I can't wait to get my classes over so I can do the holidays.
Snowmen are my favorite decoration too! My living room is full of them. Tommy likes to go & count them everyday. lol.......... Hope brea is taking it easy! Bet you won't hear that again...Don't think ...Doctors orders!
we only have a half an inch which suprised me since we are at 1140 feet. I guess it bypassed us & hit Oregon. We should get more snow on Wednesday & Thursday though. As for what we do have it is not going anywhere any time soon.
Brr it's cold outside, but I like it! Clear blue skies, cold, coffee - it's all good.
Brea and Chantelle had their first basketball game. Oh, I love watching my kids play. Chantelle started on JV. She played most of the game and did a good job. She drove to the hoop a few times and scored. She got hacked and is wearing some new lovely scatches. Those war wounds look good though! Brea played a lot in her varsity game as well. She has some good defense and put up 2 shots. We lost both games, but hopefully the girls & coaching staff learned some lessons of what not to repeat.
Ya know I was thinking that I will miss watching brea play. Thank goodness I will have Chantelle & Sarah to watch, but wow the day will come and I won't have them to watch play - ugh!!
Sarah's team is doing better and now the coach is playing the (3) 7th grade girls who can play some ball together - Sarah being one of them. Sarah has some great defense & is fun to watch. Very aggressive.
Tomorrow the girls and I are making chocolate peanut butter balls and maybe some other candies if we aren't wore out. It usually takes me 3 hours to roll the balls - with us 4 hopefully it will be more like 1 hour! Gotta love that!!
Mom is doing better these days. Her seizures are far apart and the meds seem to be working. Of course the meds give her massive headaches, so it's a vicious circle. I try to get to her house a couple times during the week - cuz she goes stir crazy at home. She is beginning to drive now (she hasn't been able to since the beginning of August). Tomorrow we'll be going to Costco together and get a bite to eat. Anything for her to get out of the house.
Off to bed, doing the Jingle Bell Walk/Jog in the morning - brrr
How was your Jingle Bell jog? Matthew started basketball last week. I haven't heard anything about Sydney, I'll have to call again on Monday. Glad your mom is doing better.
Mine was okay. It was pouring down rain. Go figure, that never happens here. My time was 29 flat. Not one of my best showings, but maybe I can shave some time off. I was toying with doing a 5K Sunday night, after church (our church is at 2pm any way) through the Christmas lights. We'll see. I wish you lived here I seriously need a jogging buddy!
