If you would like some experienced advice on how to cure a bad sunburn, follow these instructions:
1. Cover up the white part.
2. If covering up the white part is not possible, apply sunscreen.
3. If you are too dumb to apply sunscreen, cry until it goes away.
As Karalei said, I got a severe sunburn last weekend. I rented a jack hammer to bust up some concrete, and it was about 100 degrees, so I decided to wear a wife-beater to get a little sun on my shoulders since they haven't seen the sun in about 4 years. In 3 hours, I finished up, and saw that I was burnt pretty bad. My arms and neck were not burned at all. The moral of the story is to try not to be so stupid. (How was that for a closing, La La?)
It's true I have a theory on sunscreen and it is this: it's not the sun that causes cancer, it's sunscreen that causes cancer! This is the reasoning behind this theory: God made the sun and He said it was good. Man made sunscreen and I'm thinking...not so good. And let's think about all the chemicals in the sunscreen people! That can't be good for you! But the sun has vitamin D! Ooooh! Solution: Toss the sunscreen and lather on the Vitamin E enriched baby oil and enjoy the sun God made!
The last entry was deep. On a much lighter note, things are going pretty well right now. I am about to finish 2 more classes. If I don't take any breaks, I will graduate in March 2009.
We just laid sod this weekend to fill in the 2 huge holes that used to have trees in them. I cut the trees down last year, and I am just now filling them in. I am sure the neighbors loved me. We are watering like mad dogs. I am confident that our work will pay off.
I am excited about Curtis a Becca coming to Amarillo. I thought Curtis did a good job under stressful conditions, and I really enjoyed chatting with Curtis for a little bit, and look forward to spending time with them over the next couple of years.
I am also excited the Junior High class that I am teaching on Wednesday nights. Most of the kids moved up to high school, so I have a completely new group. Most of them are not Christians, yet, so the topic that I am teaching is perfect. The topic is Fundamental Bible Themes. I started last week with authority, and it is going very well so far because I have started forcing these kids to think for themselves instead of giving me answers from the book.
you were on a roll there and then you just stopped. You crack me up every time! I need closure! :) Could you mail me some of your water because we're in the middle of a drought and not allowed to water our lawn. I don't know Curtis and Becca but they sound lovely. The Junior High class sounds awesome and I bet they love having you for a teacher. I went and saw the new Indiana Jones movie.
Aw, Trevor, nobody makes me laugh harder than you do! And you're right. I did not capture the awesomeness that IS Ethan, but how could I possibly do that?
I dunno, but I'll tell ya what, I sure do right now. Not normally, but at this stage in my pregnancy you'd think I was the one with the outie that named it.
Did you notice in the Wikipedia article that the guy that did the disgusting lint research won a nobel prize? I wonder what its called. The nobel prize in gobbling up research money that could have been used to find cancer cures in order to research gross bodily functions? L.
Hey, jackandlacy, I clicked on that "bellybutton lint" link. I couldn't resist. Dr. Kruszelnicki was given an Ig Nobel prize for his research, not the Nobel prize. Big difference, but fascinating nonetheless. :D (You don't know me. I just came to your blog through the recent Pleo posts. Hope you don't mind. I enjoy meeting new people.;)
Karalei's parents are safely in Asheville, NC. They have been driving the last couple of days. They have 2 cars, so both of them had to drive the entire way. I was already missing them today because we usually eat lunch with them on Sundays. I am really excited for them, though. I think they are going to love it over there.
it is nice that you're here or back I should say, although I don't think we were ever on at the same time before but it will be nice to take shots at you with your knowledge rather than on others' blogs, technically behind your back.
hey trevor, welcome back to pleo. yeah, it was great to see the Kelley's for a little bit the other day. Love your band list down there, it's awesome....just like you
