The snow days in VA usually made me laugh. Just a skif on the roads, no school! In no. IN, we could have 8+ and they still had to go. Of course, my boys loved having the snow days until June came and they had to make them up.
I am eager to hear responses also! I guess I do both things, chatter with him all day and say a more formal prayer at other times. Just want to be sure I am "all right" doing both and that in other folks eyes...it counts. To me it does.
I am starting the South Beach Diet (or at least entertaining it). It is very sensible and healthy and I've know that limiting BAD carbohydrates is smart, but have been selfish and lazy.
Sorry, cannot say as I have. I know that they put a book out also...that's about it...other than they have LOTS of stuff available in the grocery stores.
I love the SBD. I've done it along with my sister Allison, and my mom had done it too. The first two weeks are a little difficult, but not horrible. I just feel better when I'm sticking to it. I lost about 30 pounds in 6 weeks last time I did it. Good luck! Let me know if you have any questions.
It makes sense. Hope you do well with it. I need to do something... have been toying with WW, but I don't like all of the artificial ingredients they sometimes like to push in their brand.
Mom and dad came for a visit, after having spent the previous 8 days in DC and Annandale Va, for a preacher lectureship.
They visited with my mom's sister in the Roanoke Va area on Friday evening, and then all day Saturday and then Sunday at worship and out to lunch with us.
It was a very nice visit. We didn't do too much. But, I'd love to mention right here, how joyful my heart has been to see my folks out there enjoying travel and visits. Their health is well and full and I am SO THANKFUL TO OUR HEAVENLY FATHER for the health and energy they are enjoying.
We went to a jazz brunch at the restaurant where Cassie works, but she went out of town to console a friend who was lonely at college in Richmond.
On Sunday, Ric left at the same time to go to Ohio that mom and dad. His father was recently diagnosed with a cancerous bowel obstruction, and he went along with him for his appointment at the surgeon. He will have surgery the day after Thanksgiving. I will let him tell you more about it.
Hello - I live in Warner Robins GA where Darryl Smelser also lives. (He was at the preacher lectureship this last week. He's our preacher here.) I happened to get on your site via Eva's. Noticed the soldier Christmas card idea, etc. I received 2 emails with the same address and did some checking. Using that address, the cards will be returned. But a friend in Louisville was able to find a plan through the Red Cross. She sent it via email, but the link is
duodamsel passed along some info that this card idea may not be wise.
A blue and gold mom that is a friend to some that I forwarded the message emailed me back and stated...."Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but...I would have to check again, but we (Blue Star Mothers groups) were told that anything addressed like this would be thrown out. It's sad, but with all the terrorist threats, they even target our wounded troops. They can't take the chance that the letters/cards/etc contain something that would harm them (ie. ricin, poisin, etc) so they just discard anything not addressed to a specific soldier."
Her address is blueandgoldmom_in@yahoo.com. Maybe you can email her.
It's a great Thanksgiving flavor. And, also, since I know you've been trying to eat healthier, you can substitute applesauce for the oil. The texture will be a bit different, but it's still good.
