when will it ever end? Now you may be thinking ohhh this is going to be deep, but seriously, c'mon...not from me! :D Anyway, this time, I'm simply referring to illness. My poor stinkin' kids have been sick since the Sunday before Christmas. Harrison started it this time with a cold/congestion. The day after c-mas I took him to see his doctor and was prescribed albuterol for his congestion. As the next week started and went on, he kept getting more ill until I took him back in on Friday to find out he had bronchitis, an upper respiratory infection and an ear infection and was prescribed an antibiotic, a steroid, and 4 breathing treatments a day on the nebulizer, which he HATES I might add. All the while Addison was cooking up her own variation of the illness. Coupled with that, she was also having an allergic reaction to something she ate, and had hands down the worst case of hives I've ever seen! The doctor was quite surprised by her hives as well, we think she's allergic to coconut! Anyway, she was then prescribed a STRONG antihistamine and a steroid, which turned out to make her CRAZY, so as soon as the hives went away, we took her off the crazy drugs, she was an emotional wreck, acting like a child we don't even know! That's another story for another day, but it did almost take her 2 days to fully detox! :) Okay, so back to Harrison, he's been on the RX's and breathing treatment since this past Friday, with little or no signs of improvement and the doc told me to watch out for signs of pneumonia, as if I can tell the difference, I mean this poor kid is SICK, so I dunno. He goes back tomorrow for a re-evaluation and we'll find out if he's getting better then! Addison on the other hand went to church for the first time in 2 1/2 weeks on Sunday and we we went out yesterday b/c she was finally healed, or so we thoght, anyway we didn't do much. We went to take something back to a store, that was our big trip out. These kids have been SO sick that we've stayed in and away from EVERYONE, which is super hard to do around the holidays. Anyway, today was supposed to be Addison's first day back to her preschool and last night, she called for Burt around 3:00 to tell him her head hurt and then again at 4:30 and I checked her and she has a fever again...which begs the question....will it EVER END? All I can tell you now is that Harrison's the same and Addison is running a fever and still has her terrible cough, but is not complaining of anything else! I know, things could be worse, but if any of you are wondering why I've been so ABSENT lately, either at churh or emails or phone calls....I've been dealing with super sick kids. We'll be friends again soon, I think. I look forward to better days ahead!
~An Addison funny....
She told Burt the other day her feet were old! When he asked why, the next day she said, they just are!
We've been sick on and off since the week before Thanksgiving! It seems like whenever someone starts feeling better, someone else comes down with something else. I'm thinking of putting us ALL on a cleansing diet or something.
I'm so sorry your sweeties have been so sick! I would definitely watch Harrison...for RSV. I have heard about steroids doing that to children...making them super hyper. Was it more in her case? I'll say a prayer for ya'll!
We really did have a fun day yesterday as you'll see if you SCROLL DOWN. But first, this picture immediately following this post is after dinner last night. We were cleaning and getting all things tidied up and getting Addison ready for bed when in a whirlwind she came running into the room. She said "daddy, daddy, I wanted to help clean up." To that he replied, "well all we have left to do is clean the table," she said, "ohh, I can do a good job on that!" She seemed really excited and ready to meet the challenge, after a few moments of silence he went back into the dining room to discover her cleaning the table. I didn't even know she had done this until bed time last night, when Burt showed me this picture before bed. He said she scrubbed every square inch of the table that way, now it may still need to be cleaned again, since she was on it, but how stinkin' funny is that girl and a hard worker too! :) ENJOY!
Addision is so cute and funny. Harrison is getting so big. What a sweet and cute little guy! Kids are great. Chelsea and I spend a lot of time just laughing at each other. It's the best laughing I've ever experienced. Brent and I both have a really hard time when she gives us the super, sad and pouty lip. We feel sad for her, but sometimes it's just so stinkin' funny. We miss seeing you and your family. I wish we could have come to Meghann and Jeff's wedding. I'm glad to see pictures of your happy, growing family!
What other book were you considering? I think maybe after the first of the year, I'd like to get started with something like that. I can't go anywhere that has cats though... allergies. Same reason I can't go to the building.
Yes! I've heard of it and I think it would be a great book for us to study! If you want to start something like this after the first of the year, let me know. I'd love to host it, but I'd have to OK it with Momma first.
hey crystal, i'm sure you guys are crazy busy with holiday stuff and whatnot, but we should talk about jamaica lessons when you get a chance. i'll try to start brainstorming soon... yes, this means i'm likely going back this year :)
In my last post you saw the picture of her at birth, well now here we are three years later.
I will try to post some pictures we took yesterday while we were out. Here's just one. I got a few of both Addison and Harrison together and some with them apart as seen here. This one's a little blurry but it's the only one uploaded this far. C'mon, gimme a break... ;)
I'm so sorry I wasn't able to call you and Addison on her birthday. I was on call and not able to really get a chance to call but I did remember every time I wrote the date on a form that day. So I hope that you guys had a great time. She looks so adorable there!
Addison's birthday is today. It's sad and happy and all that good stuff. Here's a picture of her THREE years ago. I can harldy believe she's been with us for THREE whole years already. We took her to get a doughnut with sprinkles for breakfast, which to her is a HUGE treat. Next we went to the zoo and I think we're going to have pancakes for dinner. What a day huh? Ohh to be three again...
Harrison is six months old today and Addison will be three! Yes three on November 10th, next Monday. I can hardly believe it, my baby is getting so old. People always say it and I know it's true that time really does seem to fly (especially the older you get) and in some ways it's true, yet in other respects ie, the president elect will serve for FOUR long years probably, and that time may NOT seem to fly. But hey, maybe it will, I could be wrong. It's funny though, how relative a thing like time is. It makes me so sad to think of the kids getting older and all of us really, but if that weren't the case then we'd all be in really bad shape, you know since we'd be leaving the natural progression of life. I guess it's the reason I want puppies to stay puppies forever. :)
This is going to be a busy month. There's 1KV, (for those going), we have a birthday or baby shower every weekend this month to celebrate. Also, Addison's birthday party will be on the 21st and Jeff and Meghann are coming to surprise her for her birthday. Aren't they just the cutest little newlywed couple ever! ;) Anyway, then there's Thanksgiving and then whoaaahh, make way for Christmas. There again, you see, TIME FLIES.
Oh, in other news, Harrison is sitting up unassisted a lot now and babbling a lot as well, I'm expecting his first word any time now, but we'll see. He is a boy and they tend to develop language a little more slowly than the girls. Addison is still the greatest little girl ever. A few nights ago at dinner she said "daddy you're greater than me!" Burt said "what sugar" to that she replied, "you're greater than me and mommy 'cause you know all the things we don't know!" So yes, Burt's life is now completely fulfilled, he can die a happy man and know he's achieved it ALL! :) It was really cute though.
I hope you are all doing well and have a great holiday season, because whether you realize it or not, it's upon us! Take care.
