I would really like it if you would please take the time to read my paper and tell me what you think I put a lot of time and thought into this paper.
Relativity vs. Evolutionism vs. the Bible, in the Octagon!
By: Josh Willis
A battle of the centuries, this fight has been going on for age’s and will most likely continue until the end of time. Who is in the right to be fighting this fight? Well that is a very opinionated result depending on who you are, your education, your religion, and your moral state of being and or your cultures ethics. If you live in a culture that does not believe in the great beyond realms of outer space, the theory that Einstein has presented as “The Theory of Relativity”, would mean absolutely nothing at all to you. If you’re a Christian you will most likely not believe in the theory of evolution taught in the majority of public schools in our government’s education system. If you are not a Christian (or some cases are a Christian) you might believe in Evolution, Evolution is the theory that we all came from one thing that exploded and turned into a perfectly balanced universe with no flaws. Let’s take a deeper dive into the never ending debate of Relativity vs. Evolution vs. The Bible!
Let’s start with Evolution, the reason for starting with this is that it is a subject with much depth that we have a lot of information about. What do evolutionists say evolution is? Here is some of what an evolutionist might say. Evolutionism is a world-view, which seeks to explain every aspect of this world in which we live. It encompasses a wide variety of topics, from astronomy to chemistry to biology. At its core, it teaches that there were different stages in the evolution of our universe. The most common theory of evolution is most likely “The Big Bang Theory”. Evolutionists claim this is now a dead practice and the common theory of evolution practiced now is the "Inflationary Universe Theories" originally purposed by Alan Guth in the late 1990's (The Inflationary Universe: the Quest for a New Theory of Cosmic Origins), the scientific community has proposed roughly 50 different IUT variants. The general idea remains the same: In the beginning there was nothing. Then a "singularity" suddenly appeared, exploded, and the rest is history. There is also the common “Organic Evolution” which states that life spontaneously generated in a "prebiotic soup." There are many other forms of evolution but those three are the most common to date.
Now for the match between the Bible and Evolution, this debate has been on ever since evolution has made its debut in the science world. People have been attempting to prove the theory of evolution wrong through the bible for ages. In this report on the subjects (I will not take sides to make it easier on you the reader to take your own opinion and side in this debate) if you have a bible go to the book of Romans, chapter 1 vs. 19-25. Which reads, “19since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. 20For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse. 21For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools 23and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like mortal man and birds and animals and reptiles.”
This verse is commonly used in the argument from the Christians point of view against the theory of evolution. Now you can take your own view of that scripture I will not show my own opinion for reasons already stated. Who do you think is in the right on this argument? Who’s in the wrong? Look in context to the things around you and then look back in the same context at the two arguments and which is your decision to trust and believe? Enough on evolution, you most likely get that enough at school and in the work place anyway correct? (That is the part where you laugh)
So now to relativity, Relativity is not a very popular subject anymore, unfortunately the philosophy of relativism is pervasive in our culture today. With the rejection of God, and Christianity in particular, absolute truth is being abandoned. But it is still practiced by many who do not practice or believe evolution. What exactly is Relativity or Relativism as it’s called? Relativism is the philosophical position that all points of view are equally valid and that all truth is relative to the individual. This means that all moral positions, all religious systems, all art forms, all political movements, etc., are truths that are relative to the individual. Under the umbrella of relativism whole groups of perspectives are categorized. In obvious terms, some are
• Cognitive relativism (truth) - Cognitive relativism affirms that all truth is relative. This would mean that no system of truth is more valid than another one and that there is no objective standard of truth. It would, naturally, deny that there is a God of absolute truth.
• moral/ethical relativism - all morals are relative to the social group within which they are constructed.
• Situational relativism - that ethics (right and wrong) are dependent upon the situation.
Now our pluralistic society wants to avoid the idea that there really is a right and wrong. This is evidenced in our deteriorating judicial system that has more and more trouble punishing criminals, in our entertainment media which continues to push the envelope of morality and decency, in our schools which teach evolution and "social tolerance", etc. In addition, the plague of moral relativism is encouraging everyone to accept homosexuality, pornography on TV, fornication, and a host of other "sins" that were once considered wrong, but are now being accepted and even promoted in society. It is becoming so pervasive that if you speak out against moral relativism and its "anything goes" philosophy, you're labeled as an intolerant bigot. Of course, this is incredibly hypocritical of those who profess that all points of view are true, yet reject those who profess absolutes in morality. It seems that what is really meant by the moral relativists is that all points of view are true except for the views that teach moral absolutes, or an absolute God, or absolute right and wrong.
Now the Christian debate against the rejection of this theory is usually backed up by this scripture,2nd Corinthians 10:5-7, it reads “5We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. 6And we will be ready to punish every act of disobedience, once your obedience is complete.
7You are looking only on the surface of things. If anyone is confident that he belongs to Christ, he should consider again that we belong to Christ just as much as he.
(I once again will not share my opinion on this matter due to my reasoning stated above.)
So now I as the writer of this report hope that you the reader now have a clearer understanding of some of the debates in the Christian/Evolutionist/Relativist world. You may take your own opinions or whatever else you might want to take out of this report.
Prayers would still be appreciated, Gracias! |
