I picked Gerald up at the airport on Saturday afternoon. He was one tired puppy. I called him on Friday night at 11:00 P.M. CST to make sure he was up and would catch the train into Schipol, and the plane home. Poor man was so busy he didn't have much time to rest while over there.
Lindsey is up in Tyler. I know she is having fun.
Lynn isn't feeling well. I hope she can get better, their anniversary is coming up on the 18th.
I have a friend coming in from Canada this week. I met her in Amsterdam when Gerald and her husband were in meetings for work. She is fearless when traveling. She sells travel packages so has been many places in the world. On our first trip to Amsterdam she taught me how to use the trains and trams to get around the city and not to be afraid of exploring. One day she walked me I know ten miles (exaggeration). We were looking for the Delft factory in Delft NL. Since then she has been many more places and I've explored new things in the Netherlands. I will have a good time being tour guide to her in Houston.
Thanks! :) It really ended up being no big deal (thank goodness). :) Thanks for always having your smiling face at church (well, and the rest of you, too). Just seeing you brightens my day a bit. :) Hope the rest of your week is fabulous!
Hey Aunt Candie! Are ya'll coming to our singing school this year? (It's tomorrow - Saturday 22nd) It's been a while since we've seen you! If not, we'll see you on Turkey day! :D
Grandpa's surgery went well. He had his pinkie finger on his right hand removed yesterday. He fell into a table saw a few years back and the doctor saved his hand and finger. However, his finger was curled and not usable. It was in fact quite a hindrance for him, couldn't shake with his right, it was in the way while working, it was getting caught while pulling out of pockets, sleeves etc. If there were threads in pockets or sleeves it caused great discomfort when they would catch and cut the finger, or cause a hand nail. Now the healing part. Please pray that he heals fast.
Gerald is in the Netherlands this week. I miss him and want him home. Saturday he flies in and I'll be much happier.
Business friends are coming in from Canada next week. I'll have fun being a host and showing her Houston. She is looking for the Old Dick and Jane books to use teaching her new grand child to read in a few years. I need to get on the phone to antique stores.
I'm off to study, I teach Ladies class Thursday night. I am a very very nervous teacher, can't think, mouth gets dry etc.
Have a good week. Enjoy the moisture in the air, falling from the sky. What a wonderful blessing.
I would say try ebay but it doesn't really give you enough time to get it here. That also takes away from the joy of the hunt doesn't it. Hope all is well. God bless.
I know how much you enjoy going with him to Amsterdam. Sorry you couldn't make it up our way. Rich Howe was in Aberdeen last week. It was good to see him.
stop talking about Grandpa. It sends shivers up my spine. Dumb me had to ask Ryan how they would do it. I was very curious, but then I was very grossed out. Ryan laughed at me. He kept telling me it really wouldn't be that gross, but I can't stand the thought of it. I don't do well with blood!
Oh, and the rain...I thought it never rained in SA. It rained the first day we got here! Apparently y'all needed it, though, so I guess I can deal with it!
I definitely don't have time to work. Hehe. Try telling my husband that. :) Oh, well. Until I have something to, um, occupy my time at home, work it is!
How interesting about the surgery. You have 3 of our special people visiting there now, don't you? Guess we can swap them out for the Stowers! We love them all!
Thank you so much for the hospital call. That was so sweet of you. Am sure you did just fine teaching last night. You have so much to impart that will help others. Will pray for Grandpa's surgery.
You did a great job at the class, I enjoyed it. You have so much to teach others, I am so glad that I have gotten to spend time with you these past couple of years, you are always a great encouragment and a wonderful role mondel as a wife and a mother and as a Christain, thank you for all you do :)
We made a fast trip to Louisiana last Tuesday night. It took awhile to get out of dodge with the 6:00 o'clock traffic.
Gerald had good meetings and I had a good time catching up with friends. Rory sent me home with sweet hot pickles and some homemade lemon curd. Tomorrow I think I'll break into them both. Of course I'll not try them at the same time, that is just Yuck! I have several bottles of Cool Brew coffee concentrate for my friends that I shared my addiction with. They still don't have the decaf. It makes me sad, since I'm trying to stay off caffeine.
While gone we missed a great niece, niece, and nephew visit. Maybe next time we'll be in Katy when they come through on their way to or from San Antonio.
Y'all have a good weekend. Remember that God reigns supreme, keep smiling.
It's so good to be home! And now I realize we probably just missed you for Bible Study Wednesday night. Were you in Baton Rouge? At first we calculated our journey to put us in BR for Wed. night, but then got further down the road Tuesday night. We went to Dowlen Rd for Bible Study.
Lemon curd? That doesn't sound like any Cajun recipe I'm familiar with. Yes, Becky & I will have to burn the bad roads to Little Rock when I finally can do so. You know Carrie's there too, huh?
Yes we had a great time and I really enjoyed making that scary food. There are all kinds of ideas on the internet, of course!! I'm glad y'all are back safe!
I've voted and now the wait is on. God is in control whatever the outcome.
I've been working some this week at school for the paraprofessional in In School Suspension (ISS). I don't like 5:30 in the morning. I've been getting up, I know that if I were to work full time I'd get used to it. I know whine whine whine. Would you like some cheese too? My respect to people that get up that early every day.
Are you going to pass out goodies on Friday night? Did your mom use to make homemade goodies to give to little ghosts and goblins? What did she make? What was your favorite candy as a kid?
Mine was anything chocolate, caramel or cinnamon. Are you dressing up?
I've been loving the weather. With Allegra in my system, I can enjoy it much more. The cool weather is so refreshing.
I wake up at 5:15 Monday thru Friday to workout. It does get easier. At first it was hard, but now it's a piece of cake! I love it! Tomorrow night Clayton and I are going to Cheesecake Factory. I don't want to be home to pass out candy. Mean, I know. I'll probably leave a bowl of candy by the front door and let the first kid that comes up take it all. :)
I stood in line for over a hour to vote. I have to work Tues so I wanted to make sure I got to vote. I am looking forward to handing out candy. Our neighborhood gets alot of kids.
Sister!! We wrote the same thought! LOL.... We are meeting at Melissntim's for chili, Grands and treats! My favorite halloween candy? Candy corn. Eaten from the white tip to the top. I also enjoy the frozen Mounds. Bring it on!
We voted this past Sunday. I am so ready for all the political ads and news related coverage to be over. I am praying for a good result. My Grandma usesd to make us all popcorn balls. they were yummy just cause she made them. We lived in the country so we didn't get any trick or treaters at our house but we would dress up and go all over the city with friends. We spent hours trick or treating and had so much fun! Times have changed.
oh that is way too early. have a very scary halloween! i'm dressing up as twister (the game). should be interesting. oh, and i met a petroleum engineer who graduated from taylor high the same year as me. that's where linds and clay were, right?
Josh and I early voted this year... it was so much faster than the last few times! I don't remember us making homemade treats, but I do remember getting to trick or treat in my neighborhood and then going to the nursing homes to trick or treat. The elderly always were so kind and you could tell they enjoyed seeing the costumes. We are having a costume party tomorrow night. I plan on being Bella from Twilight (book).
I loved going to one ladies home when I was a kid. She had a big container of hot chocolate that she would serve to us. We have also voted. Miss you. Have a good weekend.
We went to the one at the Galleria and had a BLAST!!!! Cheesecake Factory NEVER lets you down! I had tomato, basil, and cheese pizza with a side salad. For dessert I had chocolate peanut butter cookie dough cheesecake. HA, talk about RICH! I ate half of everything and am eating the other half for lunch today! YUMMY. Clayton had a hamburger and keylime cheesecake!
I was thinking about you last night with such happy memories, just thinking about how much I learned from ya'll while I was there and how great it was that ya'll took me in just like another child. I've really missed ya'll. ok, i missed dewey too.
Gerald and I have been home a week and we've been resting up.
This week we start a Gospel Meeting with David Smitherman. We are so excited to hear him again. We've had him once before and so enjoyed hearing him teach The Word. You are all invited to come hear him speak. The meeting concludes on Wednesday so come early in the week.
We've had a wonderful weekend. Friday night we went to a game night at Valarie's house. It was blast. Tonight we went to a Halloween party. We had such a good time watching the little ones play games and run around with their costumes on. As we were leaving they were going through the haunted house. They all came out screaming and running.
Game nights and costume parties are lots of fun! Our annual costume party is going to be on Halloween this year. I think we all have our costumes except for Josh- he is still working on his.
I haven't done any sewing in so, so long but am really longing to. I have taken great delight in buying patterns and reading sewing blogs. The blogs are so inspirational. Have you been to patternreview.com? I'm not a subscriber but can read enough anyway to see the good & bad in a pattern. It's a wonderful use of the internet before you try the pattern. May subscribe when I actually start sewing which will probably be '09.
No, I haven't sewn for her yet but am so itching to. Have several cute patterns and just got some darling fabric in. Have too much other stuff to do though so it'll probably be next year before I get to try. I need clothes, too, for same reason.
