I registered for my classes at 10 today and I had 4 of my five within 3 minutes. The fifth I'm waiting for an override on, but I went ahead and added another geology course so in all I'm going to have 18 hours, unless I drop something, which I may or may not.... just depends. Now I'm off to celebrate.... Oh yeah, and I turned 21 a few days ago. Today was better than my birthday tho---mainly because I was sick then and I'm not now, lol.
Monday evening I did a thing for the School of Law. I had volunteered to be a "juror" in a trial for their practicing law students, but since we were only given 20 minutes to deliberate their hour and a half proceedings..... yeah. It was disappointing. One girl and I were on the plaintiff's side, but the others were mixed. We probably could have swayed everyone to our point of view---except for a retired cop---but since we were forced to rush.... It wasn't as cool as I thought it'd be, lol. I can't wait to do it in real life---as long as it's during the summer. Do Americans living abroad not have jury duty? Hm....
I've noticed with some people (most notably family members) who are nosy in someone else's business that when a suitable amount of exasperation is exuded---or you just gust out a non-committal answer with a lot of false force, just breath---they'll leave you alone for, at the very least, a while. They seem to interpret it as annoyance, but while the person doing it IS annoyed at the questioner, they're not actually showing overt emotion. If anything, they're just exuding exhaustion/tiredness. Very useful, in my not-so-humble opinion....
For the most part, I was taught that suicide is a sin (and a touchy subject to be avoided, lol), but now I have to consider something else... Judas hanged himself because of a previous sin (he broke an oath, right?) but then you have Samson who asked God for the strength to kill some non-Israelites ALONG WITH HIMSELF and was given the strength, so.... doesn't that do more than imply there are circumstances where suicide is okay? Maybe it's only okay as long as you take out some blasphemers with the strength of God, but whether or not the circumstances are possible NOW doesn't matter---not for my argument. What matters is: God assisted someone in committing suicide. I'll ponder this some more.
Also, maybe I'm just biased or stereotypical, but it seems like my junior-level geology course is geared towards being "easy-to-pass" instead of "thoroughly-exhaustive-of-topics".... Today's test (the first one so far) left me feeling incredibly disappointed and miffed at the two instructors; if I'd known I just had to know the overlying concepts and definitions instead of chemical formulas, 3-decimal compound-ratios, and hordes of other details that now seem useless. I guess I shouldn't complain about the lecture when I never ranted about the [much easier] lab component.... hmm....
I feel that four dots should be used instead of three for trailing thoughts too... Doesn't three seem too short? I think so....
