Pumpkin cake sounds wonderful!! It might have been a good thing that you ran out of cream cheese. Hope you have a Happy Birthday and then a Merry Christmas!! Have safe travels.
I hope you had a Happy B-day! Nice breakfast, good answer for U & wow, you don't know your Zodiac sign? I'm a hard headed goat. I bet you couldn't of guessed that! ;)
So, finally after seven weeks, we have returned to normal(?) after the storm. By that, I mean we are now receiving all our services. The phone came on Thursday and the internet today. Sadly, we wasted a lot of our daytime phone minutes yesterday trying to arrange for a free air card to provide internet until ours came back on. Oh well.
I am glad to have the internet back. It was becoming more and more difficult to do school work without it.
Last week, I performed electrical stimulation for the first time on a real person. E-stim is the process of using small amounts of electicity in localized regions of the body to reduce pain, provide sensory input, or create muscle contractions. It's used mostly with chronic injuries where atrophy or sensory loss might occur, such as a stokes or nerve damage. In class, we stimulated parts of the arm. It was pretty cool to be able to turn up the voltage and watch our partner's arm suddenly rise up out of their control.
Other than all that, things are going. I am really looking forward to the coming months. Fall/ winter is probably my favorite season. Halloween is always awesome, Thanksgiving is nice, and Christmas is fantastic. Of course, after New Year's, I'm ready for it to warm up a bit. And it will be nice to put hurricane season behind us... offically ending on November 30th.
I had something similar done one time. I had a swollen nerve in my pinkie finger from using my crutches so much. It felt like getting stung by a bee or something. Mom felt so bad she took me to a movie after wards :)..Glad everything is getting back to normal for you guys!
Glad to see an update, and that ya'll have returned to more normalcy. The electrical stimulation sounds cool - I took a class at Western (some type of exercise science) where we learned and used electrical stimulation, but I don't remember what it was or what it was for? (scratching head).
things are good. nothing incredibly interesting outside of work and school and settling into my new place. I'll be starting nursing school again in the spring, at TWU for my BSN. you will only see me this christmas if you come up here! now that west main has moved their evening service to afternoon, I'm planning to start visiting over there a little more though. some people give me a lot of flack for not showing up often enough for their tastes!
We did safely leave Galveston on Thursday to run from Ike. We went to Hutto to stay with Derek and Amber. We came back on Saturday afternoon to Angie and Bubba's and are at Aimee's tonight. Santa Fe was pretty torn up. Lots of trees and wind damage around the area have shut off the electricity. Parts of it are still without power.
Audrey and I tried to get back onto the island today just to survey the damage to our apartment. The police turned us around on two different roads. Right now it looks like we won't be able to go back until the end of this week or the beginning of next. I certainly hope not and plan on trying again tomorrow (maybe with Audrey's UTMB work badge). We have not seen any pictures of our apartment complex, but we are hoping that it is still standing and we have not lost too many things. I really need to get in to retrieve my textbooks and other school supplies, even though we are not starting back yet. I may be relocated to San Antonio to finish the semester, but that won't be announced to us for a while yet. Prayers are certainly appreciated as we all go through this. There is a lot of suffering down here.
Talk to yall soon.
Z, the emergency email system is no longer in effect. Allegedly, the regular system is up and running. Our love to all there...and especially to you and A.
Hey, have y'all been able to go home yet? I've been thinking about y'all as I know you were greatly affected by the hurricane. Seth hasn't had his phone the whole time he's been at basic, so I guess he won't get it back until next Monday when he heads to tech school.
I will have him call you..if he's allowed haha. I told him in one of my letters about y'all having to evacuate and that you didn't know when you would be able to go back home, so I know he will understand. I hope y'all will be able to return to everything being normal soon.
Thanks...Yeah it was great! And yes we're doing pretty good! Rick still can't find a job but other than that things are great. My niece is having tubes put in her ears AGAIN this week!
