Time for a quick update. (well probably past time, but I guess that's OK.)
A lot has happened since my last post. Nathan turned one on Oct. 16 and the had the best time with all the birthday festivities. He also started taking his first solo steps on the 29th. He is still in the very cautious stage and mostly wants to hold onto one of our hands but he has gotten better at standing up on his own and seems to walk a little farther every day. I have been so ready for this and I love watching him get excited about it.
Other than that, nothing really new. Stanley's job is keeping him very busy and Nathan is starting to want to go with him in the mornings when he leaves for work. The other day, he watched Stanley put on his tie, then reached for the tie rack. Stanley put a tie around Nathan's neck. Then after Stanley put on his socks, Nathan of course held up his feet for socks as well. He was ready to go with his pajamas, tie, and socks on and was quite disapppointed when he had to stay with me. It was too cute!
Hope you all are well. I'm really ready for the temps to stay below 80 for good.
Take care!

I've never done one of these before, but I will just for you.
Rules: List 8 strange facts about yourself and then tag 8 people. (I think those are the rules. I wasn't looking at them and just wrote them from memory.)
1) I must set my alarm for an odd time like 6:27, 5:31 etc.
2) Before going to bed I have to recheck that I turned off all appliances in the kitchen, double check all doors to make sure they are locked, and check the closets. This must be done even if I did it earlier in the night.
3) I relate things in life to music. I may even randomly burst into song if I can think of one that relates to the situation, and I usually can. (I get this from my mom, who knows way more songs than I do.)
4) Since Nathan was born I cannot watch any kind of scary/suspenseful/psychological thriller type of show or movie. I was like this to some extent before having him, but it's way worse now.
5) I love to have conversations with children as if they were adults. I love to hear what they have to say and can converse with them for a quite a long time.
6) When I get my haircut, I hum along to whatever music is playing in the salon. Sometimes I don't even realize I'm doing it until the stylist says something about it. Actually, I think I do this more than I realize in many public places.
7) I dislike silences in conversation. I am one of those people who feels like there should be no dead air when in the presence of others. This in turn leads to me talking waaaay too much.
8) I sweep the floor multiple times a day. I can't stand when things get on my feet if I'm walking bare foot. I even think I'm becoming a little OCD about this one. |

Well, almost. We got power Monday night at about 11:30. We were so blessed to only have some tree and fence damage, but none to the house. The cooler weather has also been a tremendous bleesing. Still can't find much frozen/cold stuff at the stores, but that's getting a little better every day too. Hope all of you are well if you were in the storm's path or not. Remember to pray for those who lost everything or close to it. We had 2 in our congregation who had 4 feet of water in their houses.
Good thing this world is not our home.

Well, it has been a great summer so far. We have managed to cram a lot into just a few weeks, as usual. In June, Nathan and I stayed with Grammy and Pop while Stanley went to Dry Creek for the week. Of course, Nathan had to make his first visit to camp and he loved it - all those kids to watch! He also had his first trip to the zoo on July 4. He even got to touch a snake, much to the dismay of the grandmothers who were with us.
Stanley has been quite busy between working camps of various kinds and squeezing in some projects around here as well.
I think I hear someone waking up, so I better go. Take care. Here are a few pics from our summer adventures.

Summer break will have a whole new meaning for me this year. While I am not still teaching and looking forward to it from that perspective, I am very ready for Stanley to have some time off and get to be home with us more. These last few weeks have been super busy for him with lots of late nights.
In Nathan news, he is now seven months old and has several new "tricks". He crawls (though still very slowly), pulls up (scary!) and can say "dada" and wave/say "bye-bye". While he doesn't always do the last two in the correct context, he definitely does them. It is so amazing to watch what he learns everyday. I can tell that he can't wait to be moving on his feet. Now that he can pull up, he wants to stand up all the time! Unfortunately, with these new activities comes a world of new "toys" within his reach. Thus, it wouldn't surprise me if the word "no" will be his next, if not only bacause he hears it several times a day. Ah, the joys!
Hope you all are well!
(sorry these pics are so BIG! I am completely inept at making them smaller...I tried!)
