Does God laugh Mom?

Early this morning I was getting Bryce seated at the table with a bowl of Cheerios. I put the cereal on the table in front of him and reminded him to say his prayer. While he was praying I noticed that his chair wasn't close enough to the table and instead of sitting on his bottom, Bryce was in a crouched position up on his toes. As his prayer continued I quickly decided to move the chair which threw him off balance and caused his body to plummet to the floor. Ouch!
Bryce looked up at me from his new position unscathed and tearless and asked a very sensible question, "Why did you do that Mom?" "Why did you push me off my chair while I was praying?" Keeping my chuckle silent I quickly apologized for the mishap and helped him back onto the chair. He looked up at me a few seconds later and started laughing, "That was funny, wasn't it Mom?" "Wasn't it funny when you pushed me off my chair while I was praying, huh Mom?" His laughter was contagious and we both laughed together.

His next question came as the Cheerios lost their crunch to the thirsty milk, "Does God laugh Mom?"

"I'm not sure Bryce, what do you think?"

Now the Cheerios had captured his complete attention so the question was left unanswered but I sat quietly beside him for a while.

Probably old Emily didn't! I've often wondered at Bryce's question, myself. Hard to find the answers to some things. That's where I simply trust Him! :)

Have you ever seen the Farside cartoon that has a caveman tasting chicken for the first time? :) One says, "So, what's it taste like?" And the other chews and says, "Well, kind of like everything else!"

Are you still working on your story?!? I just went over to the blog of a girl I went to school with -- she is an AMAZING writer! -- and her little "story" she's posted made me think of the NaNoReMo (sp?) story you've been working on. I think you'll like it. :)

I didn't mean feminine, I meant effeminate. Mom explained what the difference was to me just now. And besides, I was referring to his acting, not the actual man himself. I don't know anything ABOUT HIM as a guy, just his acting. And so, I apologize if I offended you.

Lovely day...

...playing in the snow instead of shoveling it.
We went sledding with friends and then shared a meal together.
I'm always amazed at how long children can stay out sledding, up and down the hill, crashing into drifts and each other, losing gloves and boots but never their smiles.
Bryce has crawled into my lap and fallen asleep. :)
My Valentine went along with me tonight as I took our dogs out for their last walk of the day.
Having him walk with me was wonderful and so much more enjoyable than a box of chocolates!
  • stranger_yet
    Chocolates are good too. :)

    I'm just saying.

The weekend was amazing and wonderful. We are all finally better -- with only a lingering cough to show for our illness. Thanks for asking!!

Was the motrin from the snow shoveling? :) It's been a long time since we've had to do that. I miss the snow.

Franz is off to Napa (again) to try to find the right size belt for our snowblower. Thankfully the old ones last just until he was done clearing the driveway Thursday afternoon. Then Thursday night the township (or somebody) finally came through to plow Carbaugh Rd. and shoved about 3 feet of snow into the end of our driveway. Franz enjoyed driving through it with the Jeep Friday morning. I'm wondering if he'll ever get his work van out again!
