The will can function regardless of the temperature of the heart.

This quote was made in reference to the act of forgiveness. Sometimes people just strike a cold nerve within us and if they ever ask for our forgiveness or seek our comfort it is hard to forget everything else that happened...

But we must. Like in Matthew 18, we must forgive no matter the great debt owed us because we were forgiven in such a greater way.

true that. Sometimes hard to do, but it is what we are called to do.

You make such a great point! You're welcome for the updates...I'll try to keep them coming as I find out more; Marnita is keeping in touch with Buddy Payne (the Texas one), who is then filling me in. I know Jason's got so many people praying for him, and I know that God is so powerful!

Oh, and I do know you! We went to camp together (you were a year or two younger than me) and I know your brother Brent pretty well, too!...and from the comment above, it looks like you know my sis, Tiffany, too! :)

The bike was thoroughly enjoyable despite riding on an extremely rough road with a couple nasty hills.

Nothing new
The sky is blue
Birds a chirping
Nothing new

Missing you
How do you do?
It's been a while
Missing you

Morning dew
Golden hue
God shines here in
Morning dew

"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 8For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened." Mt. 7:7-8

I read an interesting take on this the other day. Instead of our usual supplications for 'gifts' that Jesus is instead directing us to ask, seek, and knock so as to find the Giver, to learn His attributes, to know His character instead of gaining more for ourselves.

Though I do still believe that God is offering for us to pour out our hearts and He will listen, I do like the idea that He is also offering an invitation to obtain the gift of knowing Him.

..because in knowing Him, we do find the gifts we are looking for.

thank you, lovely :) in reference to your entry, it is overwhelming to think about all that God went through to record the hisotry of Him and His people and to preserve His Word for us so that we may know Him!

An Abrasive Question

Why do preachers preach, teachers teach, devotionals devote us all to change our ways of living, thinking, and being when no one takes on that change? And I realize the irony in my asking this question on a blog to you all, because the question must reflect back to me. Because I know what I SHOULD be doing, what I COULD be doing, why have I myself not changed?

Sigh...good question. I need to though. Will you help?

We all have room to change and improve. It means we never reach our limit, but we don't stop reaching! You are doing well...I promise!

Maybe we're looking to ourselves to change when we should be looking to the Father for the power and strength to change. If we're looking to Him to reform/transform us to what He wants we're not looking at ourselves and feeling bad/guilty for not being up to snuff. Maybe we're viewing the change as jumping off the cliff in one big jump instead of looking for a nice trail down that we can take one small step at a time. Sure the first step may not get us to where we want to be, but it's one step in the right direction. And maybe we should take that step with our Savior.

I know exactly what you're saying. it seems point less to do about 200 lessons a year and no one make any changes...

with me it's because i don't have the right motivation; i mean, if i really want something badly enough, i'm going to get it, or do it, right? same with change-if i see the need and the urgency to make this change-if it's risky not to, dangerous even-i'm going to do it! does that make sense? seems like the motivation is the key as far as changing for me is concerned...when i needed to lose some weight, going to the Dr.'s office and stepping on that scale and seeing her write those numbers on my chart with an ink pen! whoa! MOTIVATION TO CHANGE! i think in our spiritual life our motivations are much more 'ambivalent', not nearly as black and white...

p.s. i surely am not saying that my spiritual motivations should be this way; absolutely, i should be MORE frightened of NOT changing; herein is my biggest fault :(
