Time for another update on life:

I really enjoy my new position. It's amazing how much info people tell his/her manager about his/her life. Really. I know WAY too much about folks' body parts. I'm hoping for a promotion to assistant manager in a month or two. I have to finish my application tonight. Matt says I need to write a cover letter. It's seems a little redundant since I already work there...but I guess it makes sense since there is a place for it on the application. I'll let you know how it turns out.

Mom has another chemo treatment Friday. This is the 3rd round of her new chemo. She gets it once a month. The side effects have been mild for her, but she seems to get weaker with each dosage. We don't forsee her kickin' chemo anytime in the near future. Hopefully, she'll get a pet scan soon so we can find out her status. We are planning on spending a week in Memphis with her this month.

Matt is almost half-way done with law school--just four more exams to go. I'm very happy with the progress. I know that he'll be done soon enough. I'm looking forward to the completion of it all, but I'm a lot more content waiting for him to finish with my management position at work.

Ladies Night Out gift exchange with all the ladies from church tomorrow night. I'm looking forward to the good food and good times. It's funny to see the church ladies "stealing" gifts. Matt is going to jam with some friends and play bluegrass. I guess he deserves a little R&R after all the studying.

So long. I'll update you again in a few months.

Hope you get that management position so folks will quit telling about the positions of their body parts. Keep up the good job of getting that boy through school.

I have some employees that feel the need to tell me every time they have to go to the bathroom and whether it is number one or number two. It's funny what people think their manager wants to know.

Changes

Lots of changes around here:

-Turned another year older and now officially in my mid-twenties. I can stop getting older now.

-Recv'd a promotion. Starting next week I'll be in a management training program. I'm so happy to get off the phones. I'll have my own group of reps that manage and monitor and I'll be able to do everything except officially "fire" people. It should be fun and challenging.

-Mom is changing chemos. The other one has ceased it's effectiveness and they are going to try a different one Friday, if her counts are back to normal. She'll only have to do this one once a month, so hopefully she'll get a few extra "good" days.

-Titans have gone from first to basically worst. So sad. Even the Lions are doing better. ACK.

Enough changes for now. Time to cook some dinner.

This and that

Mom got some news from the doctor Friday. There is good indication that what was left of the tumor is almost gone. There is something called cancer markers that can be traced in the blood and hers are down to 29. Normal range is below 35. She hasn't had a catscan yet to confirm the good news...she may decide to wait as long as the markers don't rise again. The doctor is planning to do a couple more chemo treatments just to be sure. She is supposed to get white and red blood cells shots every day this week so that she can take chemo on Friday. The doctor has advised her that getting so many shots will likely be very painful for her. Please continue to keep her in your prayers.

This past weekend was lots of fun. Matt's parents and Dan and Krista were in town. We went to Gatlinburg early for breakfast at the Pancake Pantry and went hiking at Cades Cove. I wish everyone could have stayed longer, but we fit a lot into one day. I got really worn out, but I think I am back to feeling rested again.

Matt starts back to law school on Wednesday. We are both ready for him to get started again. He'll be very busy. He has all his classes packed into four days, but he'll get a three day weekend each week. He's taking three upper level classes for his concentration, so he's expecting lots of long nights.

I've been teaching Bible class on Sunday mornings since July. I've got four three year old boys. It's been a learning experience, but it's starting to pay off. I'm starting to notice that the kids are remembering past lessons and one of them can now say all his NT books. There is another little boy in the class who is very close as well. It's encouraging to see the progress.

Time to get ready for another work week.

Update

Monday Mom had a new CT scan to see her progress w/ her chemo. Today she found out that her tumor has "slightly decreased" again. We are thankful for this improvement. At this point, she has decided to continue taking the chemo.

Matt and I have started exploring the greenways of Knoxville. There are A LOT. I'm very sore from the one yesterday...six miles. It probably wouldn't have been so bad if we didn't just start walking routinely a week ago.

4th of July potluck w/ folks from church Saturday and fireworks downtown Saturday. It should be a fun filled holiday weekend.

That's all folks,

Hi Amanda! How are you? I hope you and Matt are doing well. I'm glad your mom is doing well too. I can't fathom how hard that is. Could you drop by my blog and leave me her name? I'd like to put her on my prayer list. I'll do it anyway, but having a name makes it a little more personal. =)

I'm glad to hear the tumor has decreased a bit. That means the chemo is being effective and that is an answer to prayer. We will continue to pray the chemo can hold the cancer at bay.

Praying for your mother. I'm so thankful she's seeing some improvement--makes taking that nasty chemo a little more bearable. And yes, it may be nasty but several of us are thankful for it. Love to you and your family...

Good to hear that news for your mother!!! I did not need a sweater for the fireworks here - an umbrella, but not a sweater. Nashville's fireworks are so much better.... but not worth the drive right now, esp on Sat night. Cool night, fireworks, no crowds - can't ask for better than that!!
