Lions and Tigers and Boys, Oh My!

Okay, I was "tagged" by two different people so at the end of this post I shall confess my "6 weird things."

But first, "Dating, Part II."

So you'd think this new boy read my last post or something. I mean, he didn't, but he definitely got it all together for our second date.

Tuesday was gorgeous here...about 77 degrees, and we both miraculously had off from work and school. So he surprised me by taking me to the Philadelphia Zoo! How fun is that? haha. We had such a fun time walking around in the beautiful sunshine, talking, laughing, making jokes about the animals, etc. It was a perfect outside day.

Later we ate dinner outside in Philly. I rocked by paying the bill when he got up to use the restroom, hee hee. Then we went back to his place where we looked at a bunch of pictures from his various travels (Australia, West Palm Beach, etc). And okay, okay...a little more kissin' ensued. haha!

Well since 8 hours wasn't long enough for our date, we continued on by renting "Stranger Than Fiction" and driving to my place in the suburbs. He met my doggies, we ate ice pops and pretzels, and snuggled on the sofa watching our movie.

Well by 1am we were both exhausted so we finally said goodbye.

Overall I'd say "double woot."

Okay, now for "6 weird things about me:"
1. I am a big freak when it comes to foods with weird consistencies. Example: oatmeal, zucchini, gravy w/ chunks in it, fruit pies. All of these items need to stay out of my mouth on a regular basis.

2. I will do silly dances when a) you are sad and I love you enough to want to make you laugh, b) I'm really excited about something c) I really don't want to do something that you want me to do. (But that's more of a whiney, hop-up-and-down in protest dance.)

3. I love doing laundry. I hate folding it.

4. My parents have been married 3 times each. I have one whole sister, 2 half brothers and 1 step-sister. And NO! I DON'T have middle child syndrome!

5. I hate wearing a dress. If you add in nylons I may possibly hurt someone.

6. I plan to write a book and have each chapter about each boy I've ever crushed on, dated, etc. It will be the funniest book you've ever read in your life, because my boy past/present is just that ridiculous.

Okay, I'm tagging you, you, and you!

"I'd go the whole wide world, I'd go the whole wide world just to find her..." I have the album that song is from. On vinyl. When I saw the movie with some friends, I kept saying "I have that somewhere in my record collection!" All they did was shush me. But then, neither of them have a record collection, so I can understand their lack of enthusiasm.

"First you gotta create...da mooood."

Alo.

I guess it's time for an update. The sad thing is, there's not much to date upon.

But speaking of dates...*muahaha*

The formality of the "out to dinner date" is too much for me to handle. I am WAY too silly and playful to be stifled in a chair, across from said date, being forced to chew and swallow, all while sustaining "getting to know you" conversation, and stressing that something is stuck in my teeth.

I am more of a mini-golf, play pool with a group, bowling, go for a walk after getting ice cream, kind of first date girl.

The evening was very nice. He was very cute. But still, I say, know your girl and what she likes to do and what will make her the most comfortable. That's a general rule boys, not just for the first date.

Overall it was nice to know I am still date-able...

...and kissable

...even with a punky haircut

hee hee.

I love your hair. I really do.

Our first date was the movies, which is even worse because you can't even talk and you are really nervous anyway. We went to Buffalo Wild Wings afterwards and he already knew that I was horrible at eating wings and what a messy eater I was so we did a lot of laughing at my expense :)

R and R ...and R

My vacation is nearly over. It will be time to return to work on Monday. *sigh*

So this is what's been going on:

My college roomie/soul-mate-type best friend Raina came to visit for the week. It had been 2 years or so since we've even seen each other!

So we did a lot of laughing...

Particularly when we watched hours of our old home-movies from college. How embarrassing!

We played with my beagles, one of which sits very nicely for the camera.

We shopped. A LOT.

We froze in Philly trying to locate a small block of cool stores to yet again, shop in. We also went to this super chill Tapas Restaurant/Bar called Amada. I think we ate a little of almost everything on the menu. The weirdest part was when they brought out our shrimp with their big fat heads still attached. I wasn't afraid though. I've yanked out human brains before, so we were okay.

The best part was the dessert (of course). One was chocolate croquettes sitting in coconut cream with a raspberry BEER FOAM dip. It was divine.

I tried to adjust to my new haircut which my hairdresser called a "faux-hawk." I think it's a little punk rock. I just hope I dont scare the babies when I go back to work on Monday.

We also played a lot of games. I discovered that Rai is my match at Boggle, dangit.

Last night a bunch of my churchy friends came over for some hysterical game playing. Our favorite was "Things in a Box." I haven't laughed that hard in a long time. I just don't know WHAT happened, but the whole thing turned very dirty. I guess we're all just "frustrated." *sigh x 2*

Overall it was the perfect week. I laughed, played, shopped, ate and caught up on 6 months of sleep. What more could I ask for?

ants marching

Okay, first off, HOW CUTE IS MY DOG?!?!?

Secondly, I HAVE AN INVASION OF ANTS IN MY KITCHEN!

That is not cool people. They came on Sunday. They're here on Wednesday. I set those ant-trappy-food things down in all the places they are coming from. I have Lysol'd and Cloroxed the counters. There is NO food ANYWHERE.

Oh please go away you evil black moving dots.
Oh please start killing them all Mr. Raid.
It's been 4 days.
I'm starting to lose hope.
I don't weigh that much and these guys can carry a good amount.

If you dont hear from me in a few days assume I've been carried off to be their new queen.

  • sarahpet
I don't think your dogs will let the ants carry you away!..just hope the little buggers don't make it to your bed at night and crawl in your ears!
    by sarahpet at 02/28/07 10:27PM

    sorry to be so graphic.

  • nickomundo
Okay, way cute. *Said as masculinely as possible.*

And we had ants in our kitchen when we got back from Florida. The soon moved on to our bathroom. And then our second bathroom. We had all our food in laundry baskets on our dining room table for a week and a half. We did the whole Raid/ant-trap sashay, too but it took the good people at Cook's Pest Control to cage the wee-beasties.

I can sympathize with the ant problem. I've had that before. They were everywhere in my cabinets...so gross. I killed them with Raid and saw the hole where they were entering. I sprayed in the hole with a flood of Raid and I never saw them again.
    Btw, Your dog is adorable.

We had battles royal with ants in our house in Kentucky. they just wouldn't go awaaay. we finally had to get someone to come in and spray, and that helped. but like Sarah said, I don't think your dogs will let you get carried away. :)

Your dog is the most adorable thing!

Oh, and if they are the little ants they're called sweet ants and they are attracted to (you guessed it!) sugar. We always used Terro ant killer. It's sweet so they eat it up and then carry it back to the colony where they share it with friends and family. Then they all die. So even though it attracts them at first, it bites them in the end. Bwa ha ha ha!! I feel so evil.

Anyway, it might be worth a shot. :)

"Vacation all I ever wanted!"

This past week was a rough one.

The stress of being an "orientee" at my new job for a 10 month period is weighing on me. They work me "resident" type hours and I'm tired so much of the time.

Let's all say it together: "June 15th. June 15th. June 15th."

If I can make it till then, all will be right with my life again. I'll actually have some semblance of a life!

In the meantime I'll continue trying to save babies all day long, all week long.

At least I am taking vacation in another 2 weeks. I'm too poor to go anywhere, but one of my very best friends from college is coming to visit for 5 days. I'm sure we'll spend it watching all our old home-videos from college, and possibly leaving the house once or twice to see the sites of Philly (no matter how few there actually are).

Anyone going away someplace warm? I am tall, but skinny. I'm sure I could pass as carry-on luggage.

:)

  • nickomundo
I'm tired when I get home from work but I have a desk job. I don't think I understand how doctors can be on their feet for the hours they work all the time. I really appreciate those who do, though. Thanks.
