Debate in O Eight ...

What are your plans for the election?

And why?

Discuss.

Debate.

But don't berate!

Note: The "O" in "O Eight" is not intended to be an endorsement of Obama.

McCain Obama

I plan on voting for McCain. I don't like either of them but feel his beliefs are closer to mine than Obama. After the whole Jeremiah Wright thing, Obama makes me cringe.

I may do a write-in for him. Go to his page to see his campaign videos.

Seriously though, I want to see running mates first because I don't like either one. But I really really can't vote for Obama. So it's either McCain or a obscure conservative third party member to show my displeasure with everything.

I will not vote for Obama. Can't determine yet if I will vote for McCain (lesser of two evils) or not at all. Problem is, I think if I don't vote at all, I will be essentially voting for Obama. *sigh*

The life issue is big for me because I do think it can be a reason God decides to let loose his wrath. (Amos 1:13) There is a big difference between a soldier protecting his country (Romans 13) and pregnant women ripping the unborn from their womb. The scripture have made that difference clear.

As for the case in the US- Personally I don't think the the president has all that much power, especially with the abortion issue... HOWEVER, I do believe the Supreme Court does and McCain will appoint more conservative judges that Obama.

When we cast our vote for a president its for 4 years, the justices he appoints are there for life.

While I'm not a huge McCain fan, I do think that he will appoint/endorse SC justices that will lead the country down the open road some justices in liberal states like Calif. have done.

That's just my opinion of course :)

The president has immense power - it's called a "VETO".

Can't veto R v. W, though. I read (well, listened to) Obama's book. He appeared to beathoughtful, rational, flaming liberal. Most telling was his religious conviction, which consists of thinking that black churches are good for society, and for black people in particular. He has totally missed the point of individual faith, and that fact shines through everything he says about religion at all. For him, it's just a way for blacks to gain unified political power.
We did end up with the only 2 candidates with reasonably consistent records on Iraq, but only McCain understands the responsibilities we incurred when we invaded. And Obama never had to vote on the war -- he wasn't a senator yet.
And, for all his "maverick" status, McCain is more conservative than Pres. Bush. Though saying that like it's an accomplishment is silly.

I'm giving some thought to what McCain's mom said...in essence.."hold your nose and cast a vote for Johnny." I'll make up my mind closer to the election. Will not across the board endorse either. Yet, a vote for a 3rd party is decidedly a vote for the Dems. A quandry, for sure.

I'm deeply saddened that McCain has been chosen to be the "face of conservatism." It is a sad day when I find myself agreeing more with the Democrats in leadership (at least in what they SAY) than with the Republicans.

Having said that, I can't - in good conscience - vote for Obama.

I can't cast a vote for McCain either... at least not as things stand right now. I'm considering a write in for Baldwin - the Constitution Party candidate

I have thought a lot about the election. I have not yet completely decided whom to vote for. I've been listening closely to everything both candidates say. I would definitely have voted for Ron Paul, had he garnered the nomination. I'm still waiting for one of the candidates to say or do something that will convince me. I've never been more undecided about an election.

The only way for me to vote for someone who shares my convictions 100% is to run for pres. and vote for myself.

I can't vote for a man who would encourage his daughters to abort their baby should they ever get pregnant and not want it. Nor for a man who not only **says** he's in favor of partial-birth abortion, but his voting record proves it. That is just vile...period!

I am not endorsing McCain, he's hardly conservative enough for me...but, again, maybe I am the only person conservative enough for me. Except maybe my little brother, who I have seriously thought about writing in... :)
