Does anyone know of a girl who is moving to College Station and needs roommates? Amy is not happy there and is wanting to move to San Antonio. She needs someone to take over her share of the lease. She's in a 3 bedroom apartment with 2 other girls.

    I'll keep my ears open!

wow thank you very much! Interestingly, I was going to go to Twin Cities, but I heard so much about Benchley than Twin Cities that I decided to go there first, and it is wonderful, plus many of my old friends are there as well. Perhaps Amy can come by Benchley sometime? I am there at Benchley every meeting I can be there, so if she decided to come by, she should see me there. Thanks again for your kind words :)

Thank you for reading The Story. I have actually printed it out from when I wrote it back in 2007 and as people have read it they've autographed at the end that they read it. Wish I could get everyone's autograph on pleonast!

But, yes, I want my grandchildren to read it some day. (I want grandchildren someday! ha ha!)

Empty nest

My baby left home today to live in College Station. Right now, I'm so sad I can hardly stand it. Maybe in a few days I'll be in the mood to celebrate the successful raising of four children. :(
  • aleta
Ah, you just go ahead a be sad for a bit, then celebrate for a bit. You have reasons to be proud!

At least she won't be too far away. By the time I left home (I moved to College Station too) my parents were so glad I was leaving they didn't even wait one week to paint my old room and turn it into a spare room!

It is a bitter sweet thing. But I know from experience you will survive. A day at a time. And when you hear how happy they are...it helps.

My little grandson, Matthew, was visiting Sunday when he took a peek in Amy's room. He told me, "I saw the moon and stars!" It has the same decor from when she was 13; blue walls, a big painted moon, and glow-in-the-dark plastic stars and moons all over the walls and ceiling. He reached up and asked me, "Can I have the moon?" So I got one down and gave it to him. How many of you, when asked for the moon could actually give it? :)

    How cool is that?!

He may have since it ended up on the floor, but he did enjoy playing with it first.

Wonderful story. You can tell that one to Matthew over and over again. We need to get together. We need a big Christian get together. Let us think on it and see what we come up with. I think the fall will be the best. Love you all very much. Robin will be having his Thyroid killed tomorrow. Keep us all in your prayers.

So sorry to hear about another person gone. This seems to be the year for funerals. Many say God is calling many home. What is your take on this?

Dad

My dad is doing much better now. Apparently chest pains are one of the side effects of the medication he was given for the Parkinson's. He had a pretty rough couple of days and ended up in a rehab hospital because he got so weak. He will be going home tomorrow, thank God.
  • aleta
    Glad he's doing better, Karen.

I am SO glad to hear that he's going home! It is never easy to watch our parents become frail, since for all of our lives they have been the "strong" ones! I guess it's the circle coming back around....
