PJ's-Jobs-Alaska

Will had surgery on Monday so we've been home most of the week. He can't drive on his meds and has been sporting his PJ's pretty much 24-7! I can't wait to see him in normal clothes again. He's loving being in his pj's but is anxious to get back to work. He got a cleaning bug and totally cleaned out his office. I've never seen it so perfect! With the office clean, we've just about got every inch of our home organized. The remaining areas are things I need to take care of. Hoping I get that done before my cousin's fam comes to visit!

I applied for another job at the hospital. This time as a unit secretary. I doubt anything will come of it, since nothing has worked out since I've moved here! I'll continue to pray though, and I'd appreciate your prayers as well! The 12 page plus 8 essay application I did for a private Christian school didn't amount to much. I got a letter from them, but no interview. I'm very thankful for Will's great job, but I miss giving back to the community and helping our family out financially. I'm glad that I'm getting the opportunity to learn to be a housewife though, without the stress of a job as well. I think I've done pretty well keeping the place clean and orderly! Cooking is getting better too!

RIght now we're looking forward to Stephanie Nichols and Steven McGee's wedding in early June. It's near my hometown, so we'll get to go out there for a visit! It's going to work out pretty neat. We're heading up to Seattle for a quick visit with Erica's family then leaving from Vancouver, British Columbia for an Alaskan Cruise. We'll cruise for a week and then rent a car to tour Alaska for a few days. From there we'll fly down to CA for the visit and wedding!! I really don't feel deserving of such a wonderful trip. In reality, I guess none of us "deserve" the good blessings that we are granted. I am so thankful though, and intend to continue glorifying God. I am excited about seeing more of His creation in Alaska!

BABIES!

I have SIX friends who are pregnant. One. Two. Three. Four. Five. Six.

I told Will that I "don't feel like I'm part of the Pregnancy Club."

He said "That's because you aren't!" haha

All in good time, right?

all in good time, my dear. but, i know how having friends go through a pregnancy can give a girl baby fever--- it's so true. i have that RIGHT NOW. ugh.

Yeah, I'm in the "convince the hubs" step of the process. Hannah and I are on board! She has promised to be a GREAT big sister when that day comes. :)

It's hard sometimes not to wish you were already in the next stage of life, but it'll happen in good time. Soak up the phase you are in now because even though you will probably be very happy with a baby, you will longingly look back at those pre-baby days sometimes and wish you knew what you had! Although I will say life with a baby -- as hectic as it may be sometimes -- has made my connection with Greg even stronger.

Business Trips

I never thought I'd be married to a man who left for business trips. I really don't like him being gone.

When I was single, I use to feel like my bed was rather empty with just me in it and I longed for my other half, whoever that person was. But now that I'm used to having Will in bed with me every night, the emptiness I noted before seems so much larger now that I know who belongs in that spot!!

One benefit of having him gone though, is getting to talk on the phone before we fall asleep. It reminds me of when we were dating and we longed to see each other. We'd count the days, and once had to go 6 weeks without seeing one another! It's fun to get to talk sweet on the phone and eagerly look forward to when he comes home.

We have some fun things coming up on our agenda. My cousin Todd Forrest and his wife Bonnie are coming with their kids to visit us the first weekend of March. We're hoping to spend one night at the beach and just relax and spend some "couple" time with them. Before that though, Will has a minor outpatient surgery next week and I have an appt with an ENT to figure out why I have so many sinus infections. I really hope we can figure this out. We're also going to a marriage retreat in Chatanooga. Ralph Walker is one of the leaders of the seminar, so I'm pretty excited. Will has some friends who will be there too who I'm looking forward to getting to know better! We also were blessed with a trip to South Carolina in June. There, we'll be on a lake and get to stay in a nice resort. Will and his work buddies are being rewarded for a job well done! I'm very proud of him!

Marriage has been the biggest blessing. It's different than I expected, but the love and trust that grows month to month is so refreshing! I am so thankful for Will. He keeps me laughing, and works so hard for us. I am very excited for our future :)

Take care!

Hi! I'm Sherri. I just came across your blog and wanted to say that your post is so sweet and cheering to read! I am newly married myself and have been experiencing the same feelings when my husband has to occasionally go out of town for work...I miss him horribly and the house seems so quiet and my heart feels like something is missing when he's gone. We got to know eachother long-distance, and I am reminded of how very glad I am to be able to see him every day. :)

The holidays were fun! We were blessed with a gigantic Nay Family Christmas. We also took family pictures and spent many nights up late playing games and eventually all getting colds!

Will's family came down last weekend for a Surprise Birthday Party for him. We had a great time and went exploring in the Florida Caverns.

This weekend we will be celebrating his REAL birthday. I went shopping today and am looking forward to sharing a first Birthday with him, last year we were in separate states!

Happy 2010

Christmas 2009

Tonight is our Christmas here in Dothan :) I am excited! We already started a little early and each opened a gift on Saturday night when Binh and Gabe were coming through town. Will opened up his new basketball hoop and I opened a new Bible with Kristen Childress written on it! It's lovely, and Will loves his new hoop! Last night we had Ben and Brittney from church over for dinner and cards. The boys got to shoot around a little and they were all smiles!

Tomorrow we're driving up to Birmingham to stay the night at the Nowlin's house so that we can make our Thursday morning flight to California!!!! Can you tell I'm a little pumped?! (I wonder how long it'll be until English teachers formally allow kids to use the "?!" sign in essays?!) Sharon Craig is giving us a ride to the airport--That's Aaron and Karen's momma--to those of you who were wondering. I think this may be the first flight in a while that we won't nearly miss by being late!

Oh yeah-we went to New York City and had a blast! It was between the 20's and low 30's most of the time that we were there. Brrrrrrrr! But very fun! We met up with Kurt, Shaun, Binh, and Minh while there and also got to meet and spend time with Lindsey Powell! We did the major touristy stuff, which is what we wanted to do, and became quite awesome at maneuvering around the Subway systems! (Thanks to Will and Lindsey!) Traveling with a husband is VERY nice and makes me feel safe! We stayed at a hostel and shared the bottom bunk (a twin bed) because there was NO WAY I was sleeping up there alone! haha

California is going to be a mix of a lot of family time...and....family time! I'm thrilled. All of my family on my Mom's side will be out for the holidays. We're taking official "family portraits" and I've thoroughly confused everyone by leading the charge in picking "Jewel tones" as the colors people need to wear! Shame on me.

In January, Will's Momma and sis Rosemary (and her sweet boyfriend Samster) (that's not really his name...it's Sam)! are coming down to Dothan from TN to celebrate Will's Birthday and also make up for our missed Christmas with them. We're very excited for that too!

We hope that your Christmas holiday is lovely and that you get some much needed rest and also have some fun!

Love,
Kristen and Will (I thought I'd include his name since he rarely blogs now that he's a married man...)

Your family has much better color schemes for portraits than most. Lacey and I had fun being spectators a few years ago.
