Dear Mr. President,
Come take a walk with me.
Let's pretend we're just two people and
You're not better than me.
I'd like to ask you some questions if we can speak honestly.

What do you feel when you see all the homeless on the street?
Who do you pray for at night before you go to sleep?
What do you feel when you look in the mirror?
Are you proud?

How do you sleep while the rest of us cry?
How do you dream when a mother has no chance to say goodbye?
How do you walk with your head held high?
Can you even look me in the eye
And tell me why?

Dear Mr. President,
Were you a lonely boy?
Are you a lonely boy?
Are you a lonely boy?
How can you say
No child is left behind?
We're not dumb and we're not blind.
They're all sitting in your cells
While you pave the road to hell.

What kind of father would take his own daughter's rights away?
And what kind of father might hate his own daughter if she were gay?
I can only imagine what the first lady has to say
You've come a long way from whiskey and cocaine.

How do you sleep while the rest of us cry?
How do you dream when a mother has no chance to say goodbye?
How do you walk with your head held high?
Can you even look me in the eye?

Let me tell you 'bout hard work
Minimum wage with a baby on the way
Let me tell you 'bout hard work
Rebuilding your house after the bombs took them away
Let me tell you 'bout hard work
Building a bed out of a cardboard box
Let me tell you 'bout hard work
Hard work
Hard work
You don't know nothing 'bout hard work
Hard work
Hard work
Oh

How do you sleep at night?
How do you walk with your head held high?
Dear Mr. President,
You'd never take a walk with me.
Would you?

ugh!

i am experiencing a record level of frustration with this election. i have debated the best venue to vent it all. so, alas, i am laying it all out here. feel free to respond but know that i more than likely won't be back on for atleast another week or so.

i don't want to vote for either of these canidates. but i feel a strong sense of responsiblity to participate. so in true kristy form here is the bulleted list.

* i refuse to vote on issues of abortion and homosexuality. don't get me wrong i am against both, but they are issues that canidates run in their platform but once elected don't do anything about. plus there are a lot bigger moral issues that canidates are acting on (ie.. the war, healthcare, etc) the new testament stresses taking care of the poor over any other of our moral obligations.

* the war, i want to know how killing people in iraq is in anyway less horrendous than abortion. we love to scream about baby killers but what about civilian killers. not to mention all the money we're dumping into this conflict, when i am serving clients, working people, just like most of you who can not afford to go to the doctor.

* healthcare... this one is sticky i know. socialized healthcare is such a dirty word but what about socialized education and socialized libraries and mueseums. when was the last time we looked at maslow's hierarchy of needs? and i'm sorry but a $5000 tax credit covers only a quarter of most families insurance costs, before deductibles and copays. moral obligation? i think so.

I would call it the new hybrid government. It makes sense for cars, so why not political ideals. Vote for whoever, but it won't really change anything unless they can blackmail ever member of congress (probably not too difficult). I am not a socialist, but big government might be the temporary solution as it was after the great depression.

what makes you think we are murdering civilians in Iraq? That's what it amounts to, right? I mean abortion is premeditated murder. Is it not? I ask you to show me how my brothers in Iraq equate to premeditated murder of an infant. The targets in Iraq are people killing other civilians. They hide behind innocents and use them as shields. They palce bombs in childrens backpacks and send them to school or to ask directions from a group of US Soldiers or Marines. These are the people we are at war with. My question is, how do we do nothing? How do we justify letting that happen when we have the means to intervene and protect, when we have the people crying out to us to help them? Sorry, I know this is an old post, but I think the comparison is terrible and an offense to the people who ensure your safety and liberty as an American citizen.

What I have been working on the past 6 mths...

The inaugural Benefit Dinner for The Joshua Kuck Memorial Scholarship is being hosted by USA Cycling Development Foundation, The Columbia Restaurant and The Family and Friends of Josh Kuck.

On October 21st 2007, while riding The Hilly Hundred in Dade City with his USF
cycling team, Josh Kuck was struck by a vehicle and taken from family and friends.
His life ended long before he was allowed to achieve all of which he was capable.

His family and team honor his memory with this scholarship and support the efforts of
those working to keep tragedies like this from taking anymore of our fellow cyclists.

Join us for an evening of good memories and camaraderie as we launch the new
Kuck Memorial Scholarship Fund. The Kuck Fund will award annual scholarships to
Collegiate Cyclists who do exceptional work in the area of cycling safety and advocacy.

Mom..

This week has been eventful for my Mom. She fell Tuesday night walking Daisy (the beagle) and attained a few stitches and a broken arm. She had surgery yesterday on the arm/ wrist and is recovering well.

Although my Mom has had more accidents and broken bones that anyone I know, this time the experience was a new one for me. I am living in Tampa and couldn't be there. I wanted nothing more than to hug her and sit with her at the ER. I felt almost like the roles were reversed. I was worrying and wanted to make her better. I can't imagine what that feels like when it's your child and not your parent that's hurt.

Anyway.. my Dad has been great with her, even took 2 days off work. If you see him tell him you like her hair, and that his wrist is looking a little limp. :)

The Tour de France..

are any of you watching?

Who is your pick? Fav team?

Let me know I am not the only dork following the tour. :)
