Take time to enjoy God's blessings and the relationships you share

Life is a vapor that vanishes away. Live each day with this in mind.

February

makes me shiver..

Bracing for a big snow storm:) Hoping to have some fun times, plus get some good stuff done: ) Is anyone else like this. I seem to get more done when I am under strict time pressure. Give me a day off, and I seem to spin my wheels. Don't like that about myself.

Feeling content, busy, determined, hopeful, excited, weary,...and that's just for starters. Emotions are all in a jumble for no apparent reason. Go figure.
  • aleta
I don't know about others, but that describes me to a T. Right now, Gene has gone to the prison for the study and I'm trying to allow that to pressure me to get many things done. We women are a bundle of adjectives, aren't we!

for me it's spelled m-e-n-o-p-a-u-s-e ... feel it all the time these days! :)

Sounds like we might have a teacher for our next ladies' class :)

I'm looking forward to the snow. A bunch of busy-ness just calmed down because of cancelled plans, so I'll look forward to getting some stuff done, too!

I may do the dreaded income tax preparation to take to the accountant, but what I really want to do is a jigsaw puzzle!! :)

You sound just like me (minus the snow storm :) Had a day off yesterday and didn't get much done :( Content, but also emotional. Life is just that way sometimes.

Risk is correct. I was playing, too, but I am not in the pic. It is a fun, but long game: )

A new year

It's that time again. A time to think of what we need to better about in the coming year. I have been reading The Power of Less by Leo Babauta. It is about simplifying our lives so that we are more efficient and get more of the things done that are really important to us. Many of his examples are from the workplace, but he also applies them to the home. It would be pretty simple (in theory) to apply it anywhere. The following through is the key.

Husband also preached about a similar topic. He gave some very practical ways for us to evaluate how we are doing in our lives in our walk with God. We even had a handout for homework: ) My kind of deal! Thanks for the lesson, Scott.

I am working on my list of resolutions, but not only a list. I am listing ways to accomplish those goals. Happy new year to all: )

Like the resolutions approach. And I like the picture... we'll need to have you all over to play Settlers of Catan (game a lot like Risk only I'm far better at staying alive in SoC ;).

College kids arriving home safely

So many kids have been on the road this week. I am thankful for the safe arrival of Kyle in Texas, Adam, Alyssa, and Kathleen in PA. They've all been on my mind on and off for the last couple of days. I know others are still on the road. Praying for safety for all of them.

Adam's group had to drive 9 hours through the snow, and rain before that. We are getting multiple inches of snow. It is beautiful! Not so fun to drive in while it is still falling though.

Do you have snow?
  • aleta
So glad the kids are home safely. Those trips grow-em' up! It puts such dreaded things as final exams in perspective. Enjoy the holidays!

I would LOVE to have snow! It's in the 60's here in Florida. My daughter is in the air right now from North Carolina and she left snow and ice behind. Have a wonderful Christmas!

Lots of clear precip. But no white precip. So those of you up there are going to have to share pics with those of us in the cold and wet, but not snowy, south.

Another lovely daughter's birthday: )

It is hard to express how blessed I feel to have my lovely children, walking in truth. Each one has his/her own talents and strengths. No two are alike.

My girl, Brianne, is my encourager, my helper, a lovely gem. She possesses so many talents that will suit her in her future walks. I thank God for her and the wonderful young lady she has become. She turns 17 on the 7th. Hard to believe she has come to this age. I remember being 17 when I first went to FC. Can she already be the age I was? My darling smiley baby that has endeared so many along the way?

She is a junior this year, so I am glad to at least have her here for a while longer. When she does go one day, she will be missed, but I have full confidence she will be equipped to face the future.

I love you, my dear: )

Happy birthday to her and to YOU. As a mother, I think birthdays are partly for "us" and our memories.
