John McCain's concession speech moved me to tears. It is difficult to fathom his experiences in life, and what an outstanding person he is both because of and despite them. Not many people in his situation could handle it with the dignity he's shown.
That said, congratulations to our soon-to-be 44th president, Barack Obama! May he continue to inspire the nation with his hope, his concern, and his call for immediate action.
Whether we voted for him or not, the opportunities brought about by his election are very exciting!
Nothing makes you feel old like your younger cousin's son turning seven.
Wow.
Have you ever had the feeling that people could read your mind, or that you could read theirs? Sometimes you might think about someone you haven't heard from in a while and get a call from them the next day, or maybe run into them at the store. Or else you buy something for someone despite not knowing why it reminds you of them, and it turns out to be exactly what they wanted. Or maybe you're that unfortunate person who's driving behind a car going 25mph and you say to yourself, 'Wow, it'd be so great if that car would switch lanes,' and your voice seems to magically travel forward so that the car actually /does/ switch lanes.
It has to be one of the creepiest feelings in the world, when it happens. It can be good-creepy, if there is such a thing, or it can be bad-creepy - but it's always creepy.

I've lived in Florida my whole life, but at times it can really amaze me how much it can rain here in the summer - and, well, any other time, too.
I love rain, but if I were a cloud and I rained all the time, I'd probably get really bored.

There is nothing that could ever be as magical as what you do right now, in the present. The present creates the future, and nothing under the sun has more power or possibility.
And uh...my contribution to the present is a half-finished grocery list.
