Air Force

This past week I signed on the dotted line....I am officially a member of the United States Air Force.....

I am required to participate in AFROTC the next two years while still in law school.....then graduation....then pass the bar....then off to military law training....then off to my first base in early 2011 or so probably....

I am excited by the opportunity and humbled by the responsibility.....

My sincere Congratulations to Kami and Sacha....Im sure Lukas is thrilled to have a younger sibling on the way....

Life is very busy here, but very good.....

Congrats on signing! You've probably said this already but where are you going to do your time in AFROTC?

I don't know if I can go so far as to vote for a libertarian, but I don't see much difference between him and Chuck (the Constitutionalist). Chuck wants to institute the "Sanctity of Life" act that Ron Paul wrote. I like that idea, but I don't like his idea of legalizing a tarriff on foreign trade. Barr wants to give the states the power to legalize/outlaw same-sex marriage. That's cool, I guess, and he also is for free trade. (which I think is obviously better than a tarriff!!) I mean, I understand wanting to keep jobs/money in America, but I really feel like that would increase the inflation rate by cutting out a large chunk of the competition, you know? Anyway, I'll stop now.

DC, KY, AZ

Time Flys.....

My 12 week stint in DC is nearly over.....On thoe whole, this has been an amazing experience....Working for Kyl has been enjoyable and valuable....I have lived in a great area of DC....I have seen just about everything there is to see in DC, made a trip to NYC, the inner harbor in Baltimore, Annapolis, Richmond and Williamsburg, Virginia and etc.....

Politically, DC is a cesspool....it is amazing to see first hand the allure of power....by and large politicians are totally convinced of their own righteousness, they love to hear themselves talk, and their top priorities include attention, titles, money and re-election......

There are a few exceptions....a few.....I would argue that Kyl is one of them....agree or disagree with his politics he plays above the fray, is very respectful, and has been a joy to work for.....I could disagree with every one of his political positions and I would still fight for him to be re-elected and vote for him.....

I will be in KY for two weeks......I look forward to time with friends, the opp. to visit Berea and to just be in KY.....

I return to AZ on the 17th and the fall semester starts on the 21st.....

Time Flys.....

Where does a year go.....

My first year of law school ended yesterday.....Strangely I think Id almost go back and do it again....A very intense, but overall enjoyable experience....It helps that I feel good about how finals went, Ill find out in a month or so how they actually went....:)

I fly to DC tomorrow morning...On Monday I start working as a legal extern for Senator Jon Kyl...I was hoping for more of a break, but I look forward to the experience....

I have been richly blessed in my life and if the past few weeks have been any indication, there won't be any let-up in the near future....

A good pal of mine just finished her first year of law school at American in D.C. At what school are you studying? It sounds like years and 3 will be much less intense....I hope it goes well. For my MSW I'm taking a Non-profit Law class at UNC-CH.

Air Force

I found out this morning that I was accepted into the Air Force JAG program. Given the fact that supposedly close to no one is accepted to the program I am pretty pumped....well to be honest more in shock than anything.....

Even better a close friend was accepted as well....we found out within minutes of each other....would have been ugly if one of us had gotten in and the other had been rejected....

All smiles here....

    Congratulations!

Israel

Im flirting, pretty seriously I think, with the idea of spending my summer in Israel....Money is a bit of an issue, but what an opportunity it would be.....Ill keep you all updated as my summer plans come into better focus.....

I interviewed with the Air Force late last week....I have applied to the Air Force's JAG program...if accepted I would do ROTC the last two years of law school and then be commissioned in AF JAG....my service commitment would be 4 years....The program is very very competitive for first year law students, so I am realistic, but also optimistic....Ill let you know when I hear something in late February....
  • championisme
hey israel sounds awesome. you'll have to post tons of pictures. you want to go to the air force??? man, i've been missing lots of details in your life lately.
