Wired

Many times I can’t sleep on Saturday nights in anticipation for the next day. I don’t have that problem when I have anything else important going on the next day. My best strategy for major tests is to sleep when I should be studying (isn’t that right Matty?). Anyone else have this trouble?

I know it might help if I weren’t typing this…but because I’m so wired this is basically the only time I get on here.

In other news, someone in my class Tuesday night when we were required to tell our favorite book and movie (in a graduate class, no less), said, “My favorite book is the Holy Bible, and my favorite movie is Borat.”

Okay.

I love people, don’t you? That may sound sarcastic after what I just wrote, but I really do. I hope I’m making as much of an influence in the lives of others as some very wonderful people are making in mine.

Goodnight (I hope).

Hi Reagan! This is Allison and I saw your name on Jennifer F's blog. I couldn't resist seeing what you would post. Regarding your past-graduate studies...life is pretty amazing, no? People more so. I know that I have had some DUH moments in my Christian life, so I'll refrain from comment. However, these two favorites seem to be polar opposities! You can KNOW that you have made a difference in many lives here in Lindale. You have given us much food for thought from the perspective of a young Christian. It just proves that none of us is too old to learn and that "out of the mouths of babes" can flow much wisdom! Just so you know, there is a conspiracy underway to keep you in Lindale FOR-EV-ER!!!

Two True Views?...It's a pun....I see....

I wrote this in a fit of honesty late one night…

(With apologies to Jady and Matty for the crude rhyme scheme,
And thanks to Mason for the one-over)...

View 1:

You see, we don’t have a steeple.
That makes us the Lord’s people.

We hide it from others
That they aren’t our brothers.

We might offend them, you see—
Then how awkward would it be?

If we don’t make waves and go with the flow,
Maybe our stand for truth won’t show.

Our building doesn’t have a steeple,
That makes us the Lord’s people.

Our children can’t recite any Scriptures,
But look how they quote the Hollywood pictures!

It’s hard to find time to study, you know?
They can’t fit the Bible between TV shows.

They’re still young—just sowing wild oats;
Teach them the truth? Is that a joke?

No, see, we don’t have a steeple.
That makes us the Lord’s people.

“According to truth,” our service proceeds,
Although the “spirit” just got up to leave.

We sing a cappella and partake every week,
And then listen (sort of) while the minister speaks.

Yeah, maybe our hearts aren’t fully in it,
But this is the way Grandpappy did it.

You see, we don’t have a steeple:
That makes us the Lord’s people.

All those “other" churches out there
Don’t have a clue; they better beware.

I bet they wish they were as good as us,
We don’t do bad things, we don’t even cuss!

We follow the Law, every jot and tittle,
Who cares if the “spirit” is lacking a little?

************

You see, we don’t have a steeple:
That makes us the Lord’s people.

We sometimes think only “what” is important—
That the “how” will work out if we only ignore it.

But without the fire in service to Him,
We’ll lose our souls because of our sin.

Faithfulness, zeal, loving Him with all of our might:
These, with obedience, make us right in His sight.

So live each day as you know the Lord would,
Then you’ll know you’ve done all you could.

You see, it isn’t the lack of a steeple
That makes us the Lord’s people.

View 2:

Our order of service is a little bit odd.
That makes us the children of God.

We know in our hearts that our worship is right,
How else do emotions fly up to such heights?

If it feels so good to clap to each song,
How in the world could God find it wrong?

We know we’re pleasing in all that we do,
Because to our hearts we always stay true.

Our order of service is a little bit odd.
That makes us the children of God.

The name “church of Christ” is so out of fashion,
The name’s not important when you’ve got lots of passion.

If you have the “spirit” in all that you do,
You can let the “truth” kind of “come to you.”

The sermons are short and speak right to me,
And they’re all one-hundred-percent scripture-free!

Our order of service is a little bit odd,
But that makes us the children of God.

“Do good works,” something said…
It may have been a book I once read.

Well, we do good works just like we ought:
And we talk to our neighbor, though we’re not sure about what.

It’s the “doing” that’s really important, you see,
It doesn’t matter what the content might be.

Sure, our order of service is rather odd—
That’s how we know we’re the children of God.

Just look at how far we’ve progressed:
We know it doesn’t matter how you’re dressed!

We try and do things so that others take notice,
Yet somewhere back there we lost God as our focus.

We’ve forgotten His law in our minds and our hearts,
And just having zeal won’t withstand Satan’s darts.

Our order of service is rather odd:
Clearly that makes us the children of God.

************

We sometimes think only “how” is important;
That the “what” will work out if we only ignore it.

But without the truth in service to Him,
We’ll lose our souls because of our sin.

Faithfulness, zeal, loving Him with all of our might:
These, with obedience, make us right in His sight.

So live each day as you know the Lord would,
Then you’ll know that you’ve done all you could.

It isn’t the order of worship, normal or odd,
That makes us the children of God.

Joy and Fear

Mrs. Kristen K., formerly of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints was added to the body of Christ today.

After 5 months of study, she was baptized for the remission of her sins. Her real life has begun, and for that we rejoice!

Please pray that she will have the strength to run the race with endurance and faithful service.

And, apart from other things, there is the daily pressure on me of my anxiety for all the churches.
(2 Corinthians 11:28 ESV)

I am afraid many people dont know what love is...I pray I am not one of them.

Love,
Reagan

The Top Ten Reasons to Like Rap

10. You can use the words Erabuddy and Dississ without fear of persecution.
9. With lyrics like OKAY!, WHAT!, and Yeah, Boyz! anyone can sing-along (provided there is a bouncing ball).
8. Without rap the use of the letter z would be reduced to Jazz, Zebra, Zeta Phi, and zzzzzzz.
7. Cool nicknames like Snoop-Dogg, Kembry, Eminem, and Dougie-B.
6. The great base-lines. Unless, of course, you take the baseline out, Uh-huh, Uh-huh.
5. Glad
4. Without rap we wouldnt have shows like Pimp My Ride and Flavor of Love. That would be terrible.
3. Without rap we wouldnt know about the anger of a whole generation of dysfunctional, middle-class, B+ average, white kids facing a titanic struggle of self-expression and self-doubt.
2. Vanilla Ice.
And the #1 reason to like rap

Its not country.

Hum. Billy Ray Cyrus vs. Flavor Flave: Cage match. Id pay to see that.

In other news...I giggled like a 7th grade girl when Pam smiled again. I saw it all again, for the very first time.

And that wasn't angry at all. Have a great day!
