I had this email from Brian this morning...

I am on a sandbar in a tent in the middle of the Brazos river in August sweating on top of a vinyl sleeping bag, typing on a blackberry with no signal while I use my children's underwear for a pillow, thinking what a privilege it is to spend this time with my boys who fell asleep in these same conditions in a matter of seconds and will wake up in the morning refreshed and ready for some serious dude time. Oh the lengths to which men go to tie strings with their boys.

We had a big time today. Several cliff jumping escapades. rapids. Swimming. Fishing. And the always popular FIRE. Doesn't much matter what's for dinner if there is fire.

See you tommorrow. Have my sleep number bed tuned up and an appointment to the chiropractor scheduled.

Love you big.

Did I mention the racoon that I have been listening to for the last few hours trying to find a way into our food? He is NO match for cunning of this human.

when you have a thunderstorm, the lightening releases the free nitrogen trapped in the air. which in turn fertilizes the grass and trees, greening them up. it works better than synthetic fertilizers and IT'S FREE! isn't God good?

yeah, i pretty much feel the same way----not. trae and i were discussing the same topic last night, and i think my exact quote was, "i hate nature soooo much." the exact object of my hatred at that moment was one of those loud cicada bugs doing its mating screech outside our bedroom window which only reminds of when, as i kid, i had to work in the yard in the spring. i clearly need some kind of intense therapy....

I STILL DON'T HAVE INTERNET ACCESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm at mom's right now. Once again I've gorged. What is it about this place? Thankfully her scale is off about five pounds so I feel pretty good about the whole thing. You can actually eat yourself sick and still lose a couple. What a deal.

Do they have high-speed internet service there? Hughes Net (satellite) is $59-79 depending on speed -- twice as much or more than cable or DSL, and not as fast, but I think if I lived somewhere where there was no cable or DSL, I'd have to break down and get it.

"Titus, what would you like for your birthday?"

"Roofing stuff, paint (just not black, white or grey, please) and stuff to make walls."

"What are you going to do with it?"

"Build a house."

Bet he'd finish his faster than we'll finish ours.

I hope you're writing down and saving all this stuff for later. When Jeff was little (maybe 3), we had a CD with a song on it called, "Hey Baby, Que Paso." One day, we're standing in the kitchen as he walks through singing, "Hey baby, get my soap." Of course, he's still singing, and now minoring in Spanish.

On the other hand, when Cliff was just about 18 months, Melinda walked in the dining room to find him standing on top of the dining room table. Very proud of himself, he looked to be surveying his kingdom. And he'll still try anything, and still thinks the world is his to survey.
