Stupid Groundhog

I am quite sick of winter. The snow was all nice and pretty the first three times. And sledding and snow cream was fun. But when I made it three steps out the door Monday morning before wacking my head on the ice covered sidewalk, I decided I am done with winter. Only 30 days until the first day of Spring! By the way, no concussion or concussion-like symptoms. Seriously case of whip lash and sore butt though.

This weekend my FIL, MIL, and SILs came up to NashVILLE. We had a lot of fun, and I'm so glad that were able to come. Next time they come up hopefully we will get out and about in the city more. But we had fun hanging out at the apt and going a few places. They were able to come to Williamson County and meet our church family there. Who are awesome, by the way.

Lost - The Final Season.
Thoughts on this? To me they are not giving answers quick enough, surprise, surprise. Also, I'm still upset about the Juliet & Sawyer situtation. Hopefully they will speed things along here shortly. Jack has gotten on my nerves more and more every season. He is like Ross on Friends. He has to be on the show, but you wish they would give the other characters more screen time. However his personality is more like season 1, which I am sure has to do with this season mirroring the first.

I discovered pistachios a few weeks ago thanks to a friend. I don't know why I had never tried them before, they are fabulous!

Have you seen FOOD, INC yet. The husband of the woman that fed me pistachios recommended it. Bryan and I watched it with his family several weeks ago. It is a interesting documentary. Makes you think more about what you are eating. So if you are ignorantly blissful, you will want to avoid this movie.

I also am a fan of pistachios!

Coca-Cola Model

I have recently decided my family dog looks more and more like a polar bear every year. She is short, an avid eater, mostly white, and has a stubby tail due to her cocker spaniel heritage. Other than the brown curly-haired ears, she is really a miniature polar bear. Next year I am taking a picture of her with a Coca-Cola bottle and sending it out as our Christmas card.

In related news my mom has a list of items of the fridge that Blizzie either can't have or doesn't like. (I think it was put there for you for dog-sitting reasons.) Blizzie's a dog; shouldn't that list be longer? And one of the things on there is Skittles, and it is under the "she does not like" category. Why would you try to see if the dog likes Skittles? Does she not like all Skittles, or just the orange ones?

Things I learned this Christmas:

When enthusiasticly opening presents, only rip the wrapping paper until you see enough of the box to decide whether or not you should rip the box as well.

Never wrap your own present.

There are bow thieves among us.

Changing traditional Christmas Eve dinner from Xmas style food to Italian will greatly upset only 1/5 of the family. Those 1/5 will be the eldest members of said family. "Lasagna?!?!?! On Christmas Eve?!?!"

If you give certain people clothing they will try it on immediately.

I am closely related to two people who should from hence forth be banned from the Dollar Tree. My stocking over-floweth.

If you run out of mantle space you can always hang extra stockings in the bathroom.

High school inside jokes do not die, even after 7 years.

If I wreck my car into a river it's totally cool cause my new cd player is SeaWorthy. (Totally cool as long as I don't die. But if I do, at least I will have theme music on the way out.)

Hope you had a Merry Christmas! Happy New Year!

Also, let me know what you learned this Christmas:

You're hilarious. Yeah, skittles on the "does not like" list, that's great!

I learned that Toby prefers hedgehogs with Santa hats to regular hedgehogs.
I learned that if my Dad actually goes shopping for Christmas presents - he buys really nice gifts.
I learned that tearing up in the Target line on Black Friday will get you good deals.
I learned that my fiance will spend how ever much he wants on me, even though we set a Christmas budget on each other.
I learned that it gets really expensive buying presents for 2 families.
I learned that I really don't want a sentimental gift from my boss, like jewerly I'd never wear, I want my Gift Card to the Summit.
I learned that kids under the age of 5 need less than 5 toys not to feel overwhelmed.
I learned that I really can make it one Christmas without buying anymore cute wrapping paper.
I could go on, but maybe, just one day, we'll be able to catch up...on the phone.

    I learned....
I don't like weather that is 15 degrees below zero.
    I do love the snow!!
I learned that elderly people in a nursing home are thrilled to receive socks for christmas
I learned how to differientiate a virus from pregnancy sickness...the fever is a good indicator.
I was REINFORCED with understanding of how great my family and in-laws are.

you know, it's sort of like Bryan's keys. I totally meant to tell ya'll but I found the "missing necklace and ear rings" right about the time I also found Bryan's keys. They were in the suitcase and had fallen down into a pocket. So, he won't be selling my stuff on Ebay any time soon. =) Thanks for looking!

Thanksgiving - Bullet Style

-I am so ready for Thanksgiving. I really miss my Harris fam, especially the SILs. And I get to see all our Saraland peoples. (Mel it is so weird that you won't be there.)

-As my inlaw's home is quite crowded for T-day, Bryan and I get dibs on pop-up camper. Score!

-Wednesday night all the Harris females are going to see New Moon after church. First we are going to split up on Team Edward & Team Jacob and make mud-slinging shirts about the other Team. (I just made that last part up. Seriously Holly, don't make a shirt.)

-Made chicken and dressing for the first time by myself. It took me two days. Bryan is still making fun of me.

-Saturday is the big wedding festivites. Bryan's grandfather is getting married to Naomi. I get to be wedding coordinator. I think I was asked because I'm the only person who knows all the children of both the bride and groom since I grew up with Naomi. Or it is my mad bossy skills. Either way!

-My parents & sis are coming to the wedding so I get to see them for Thanksgiving weekend too, which is awesome. I am so blessed that my family & inlaws get along so well. Sometimes I think they like each other more than they like me and Bryan.

-And the best for last....Amy's getting murried!

and I enjoyed being with you as well!!!! We will have to do it again soon, say New Year's Eve? =) Yes, I have many of those mad kind of skills. People sometimes think one is just being humble when they say they aren't very good at something. I try to tell them, "no really, I'm not". When will they ever learn???

Hey, don't tempt me! I made Twilight shirts for the release of Breaking Dawn and my snl and bf all wore them to the midnight release. Yes, it's dorky now and I will NEVER wear it again, but we blended in then and had a blast! =)

    happy
    holidays!
    by fullofgrace at 12/24/09 2:11AM

Halloween is my second favorite holiday. (4th of July is my first, I'm so abnormal)

Hope everyone had a good holiday. Mine was great! Friday I went to work dressed as a syringe (more specifically a Lupron injection). I came in third place and won $10. Since it cost me approximately $7 to make the outfit I feel I came out on top. My team at work all dressed as items found at a urology office (we bill for urology, hence the them). My coworkers were a urologist, Spongebath Betty, hazardous materials box, a Sling Operation, a phish test (prostate cancer screening related), and my supervisor was a urine sample.

Bryan and I then drove to Athens in a near flood and went to the Storytelling Festival with my parents downtown. This is the third year of the festival. One of the speakers was the author of the 13 Ghosts of Alabama. She was amazing.

Saturday we saw family and friends and then headed to Gardendale for Halloween Festivities. We were dressed as Adam and Barbara Maitland from Beetlejuice. My hair didn't turn out quite floofie or dark enough, but Bryan's costume was spot on. Best quote of the night was Amy's neice Stella to Rachel, "I love Mary Poppins!" No one told her who Rachel was, but she figured it out. Rachel was thrilled.

Sunday we got to spend more time with my parents before heading home. We stopped in Minor Hill, TN on the way to go to an auction preview. We drove 30 minutes in the beautiful country of southern TN and could see the house we were going to, however a raging creek was over the road between us and the house. After another 20 minutes of driving around we made it there. I think we both wanted to buy a farm after driving around the area, it was really beautiful.

Seriously?

My husband has never seen Beetlejuice. (But he has seen the cartoon.) How are you born in the eighties in the USA without seeing this movie? What is he, Amish?

I just don't understand. But I can tell you what movie we will be watching next.

Holly, you grew up with him, how did this happen?
  • emmaroo
I haven't seen it either. Beetlejuice was gross and he scared me. Don't hate.

How can Beetlejuice be gross??? He's Batman!

I didn't see it till I was older, maybe 13 or 14. My mom was afraid it would scare me (and she was probably right!).

But....my husband had never seen The Princess Bride till we got married. I'm still trying to figure that out. He was REALLY skeptical when I suggested he watch it but now he loves it.

HAHA..I just stumbled on to your blog Staci...and laughed hysterically and immediately thought "Dede". Ha. She used to pause the movie for "bad" parts and "bad" words (of PG movies) to tell us that they were "Bad". At least this was when were in middle school, some high school too. ;-)
