thought for the day

"Therefore thus will I do to you, Israel; Because I will do this to you, Prepare to meet your God, Israel. For, behold, he who forms the mountains, And creates the wind, And declares to man what is his thought; Who makes the morning darkness, And treads on the high places of the Earth: Yahweh, the God of hosts, is his name." (Amos 4:12-13)

"The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, but fools despise wisdom and discipline" (Prov. 1:7)

"The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding" (Proverbs 9:10)

"The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever..." (Psalm 19:9)

"Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer." (Psalm 19:14)

This shows us that only through the fear of God and His power can we hope to grow in wisdom and understanding of spiritual things. Great things to meditate on!

Prov 14:12 There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death.

Moral of the story - Follow God's way and not our own because He is the one who declares to man what is his thought ;)

humbling experiences

have you ever found yourself complaining?

i know i have

instead of asking the Lord in prayer for help and trusting in Him ... i complained to Him

and yet today i find myself truly humbled because God still answered my prayer

i feel humbled and embarrassed that i felt worried about something so small

there are so many things i have, my friends, that i do not deserve

it brings tears to my eyes that God would see fit to bless one such as i

i have embarrassed Him, transgressed His name, and sinned against His law

and yet, He not only forgives ... He blesses ... beyond anything i could ever ask or think

and all i can do is say thank you and use what He has given me to His glory

i feel truly humbled today by the mercy, grace, and love of our God

i wanted to share these thoughts because i hope i am not the only one who struggles with forgetting these things

i hope these thoughts help bring your day into perspective ... and that you remember to say thank you to the One who blesses :)

new year's resolution (s)

1. finally begin the gluten-free diet

i have been gluten intolerant since i was 16 ... i just didn't fully understand it and, in complete honesty, wasn't too thrilled about changing my life just to get rid of a few hours of pain ... unfortunately, it has been getting progressively worse so i am finally giving in and choosing life-change over pain

i also hope this change will help me be more understanding and give me a better perspective as a dietitian

2. learn how to ballroom dance

he came up with this first, so i can't take credit for the original resolution but i really really want to learn how i'm just ... really really uncoordinated

but since he is too ... hopefully it will be fun instead of completely humiliating :D

3. get my concealed hand-gun license

got a gun for christmas ... time to learn how to use it

4. conquer the stack of books that i want to read

that will be done this summer

4.5. possibly also re-learning how to play the piano with my brothers

... possibly ...

i'm really looking forward to 2010 ... i know it will be a very blessed and wonderful year :)

Good luck with going gluten-free. It's tough but can be done. If you want some help learning to use your gun, let me know. I know a Christian who does classes. Ballroom dancing... sounds like fun! When you learn, would you teach me? ;-)

I know how to ball-room dance. And use several different types of firearms. :) Although, I do not recommend mixing the two. Unless you happen to be at a gun-twirling ballroom dancing gunfight. (You know, like Equilibrium?)

Aw, Jenn, good luck with your gluten free diet. There are so many things out there to sub for wheat products now.

Sounds like a fun year ahead for you! And don't worry about the life-changing diet... I can say from experience that it won't be ALL that difficult. ;)
