Well, our softball team started out last week, not sooo good. Brea was not doing her best, then boom last Saturday we had a double header and Brea was on fire at the short stop position. Her hitting was good and Chantelle did super laying down some key bunts. Hopefully we'll get better and better and WOW our team was hitting so good on Saturday too. Very impressive! Chantelle played great defensive. Not alot of balls came her way, but she was there and on them when they did and backing up all throws.
College -ugh! Okay, so Brea and I have filled out 16 scholarship apps with more to go this next month. We won't find out about most of them until May. We are short about 10,000 for FC. The long and short is - we need more funding or FC will not be a possibility. We/she can not go into debt that much each year for college. It's not realistic. So, Brea's second choice is Western Oregon University. She visited there on Thursday and really liked it there. 5,000 students - so not so big to swallow you. She could tryout for the softball team there too. The nice thing is that since Brett works for the U of Oregon, we get 90% of the tuition paid for. Very tough decisions ly ahead. Either way she is going to college and I am still looking for other means to fund FC because she will go there if it's more affordable. We are praying and working hard on those scholarship apps.
Tonight is Sarah's 13th Birthday Party. 12 girls here - oh my. They are having fun, eating, movies, hide-n-seek outside, goofy crazy games, oh yeah. Even with 12 girls, I was limiting her. Every inch of my front room is taken over w/sleeping bags right now. Memories for those girls. HAPPY 13th bear!
This is the end of our Spring Break. The girls have been sleeping in, playing the wii, softball, watching movies and hanging out with friends. I had to work this week cuz I am taking time off in May for my trip to Europe. There is so much to see and research in Spain, Italy, France and Monaco ... amazing the depth of what is there. I will see a small part, but enjoy the parts I do see!
Enjoy your week :-)

The girls basketball team lost their first game at State. I am so proud of my girls though, cuz they did great!! The team we lost to, took 2nd in State.
Softball season is underway. We begin games next week. 5 games in 6 days, if we don't get rained out that is. Brea is shortstop and Chantelle will be outfield (don't know what spot in the outfield just yet) Yesterday was the first day the team got to practice outside. It's been so icky and rainy. Lov'in this sun right now!!!
Sarah is taking a break and then will play spring basketball and/or softball.
I am doing a ton of researching on Spain, Italy and France. It's been fun.
I am also helping Brea with a lot of scholarship apps. I do the little work and she writes the essays and such. I get to tweak the essays. It's a good team work project for us. We have 4 coming up this month to finish, so we are always busy getting it all together.
Brea is hopefully going to FC. She really wants to go there, but we are hoping for more funding from FC endowment funds and maybe a sponsor .. we'll have to wait a month or so and see what happens. Otherwise she'll be going for her second choice which is Western Oregon University.
That's about it for now. One day at a time.

We won our league play off game, so we are going to State. Our first game is at Rainer high school on Saturday the 28th. Once we win that we are in the final 8 going to the State tourney at Willamette University in Salem. Our team is good, but really we have only been playing well these past 2 weeks. It will be some very tough competition, every one has to be playing their very best games. I would really like to have them win at least 1 game at Willamette U.
Chantelle is on the Varsity team too. She did so well running the point for JV, that the coach asked to jump up to varsity for these play-off and state games. She is jazzed to be included!
Brea's pic is on the front page of our paper today. It's a pic of her shooting the winning shot at Regis last week. Made her day. Basketball is not her top sport like softball & soccer.
Softball season has arrived. The girls are doing double duty, going to basketball practice then onto softball practice. It's light softball for them, since bbx is still going on. Just throwing and some hitting to warm up the body for sb.
Sarah is doing great in bbx. Her team is really finally to put some things together. It's so nice to see that. They scrimmaged yesterday (the 6th grade team) and Sarah took some really nice shots and drove to the basket several times w/lay-ins. Sometimes it's just about having the confidence to shoot or drive.
Currently it's NOT raining. Yesterday was awful. It rained so much, like it was trying to make up for all those dry days we have had this winter. Nice to see some blue sky today.
I have been doing some research on the Mediterranean cruise that I am taking with Mom and my aunt & uncle. Okay, so I really didn't realize that Monaco is a country! It's like 1 square mile and has a population of 30,000. They have "lifts" that take you up and down the city blocks. As you can imagine that country is stacked to allow for more people/shops etc. It's absolutely beautiful from the pics I have seen too.
On my list of things I have to go and see. Funny, cuz there are just a few things I want to go see - Rome (vatican, colessum, sisteen chapel), Florence, Pisa, Pompeii, Nice, Monaco, and hopefully Eze. Really - I want to see the countries. I want to sit and have coffee in Paris, Florence - take in all I can visually. The more I read, the more excited I get to go!!
I get to spend about 28 hours in Paris. My mom and aunt & uncle are staying a week in Paris after our cruise. I am staying a night, then flying out in the evening to allow for the most time there. I just helped mom by researching places to stay there. We ended up with a flat (studio) that is 650 sq ft. Sleeps 4, has a mini kitchen, washer/dryer, internet w/computer - very nice. It was cheaper to rent the flat then stay in a hotel and way more amenities too.
Excited for our game this Saturday! Go Girls - play hard and your very best!!

The girls varsity team is in League playoffs and we will be playing our first game of State next week (probably the 28th). It's been a tough season. A lot of talent, but not working together well. Finally, the past 2 weeks, the team has turned the corner and is playing well together. Chantelle is swinging up for Varsity, league play-offs and State. She is very excited to have her name put on the back of the t-shirt along w/brea's. Very cool!!
Chantelle's JV team did very well! They only lost 1 game this season. Chantelle was a great leader for her team and did an amazing job as point guard. She can handle the pressure which will be a great addition for the varsity team next season.
Sarah's basketball team is plugging away. They have improved sooo much since a year ago. Amazing to watch how much they have improved. Yes, they are about 50/50 on wins and loses, but WOW! Sarah is doing well and so nice to see her make great shots.
BACK from the FC Camp Directors Conference. So many ideas and we are excited for camp this year = JULY 19-25!!!! Counselor and Camper applications are up on the website and ready to go. www.fcboosterclubnw.com
Big News - I am going on a Mediterranean cruise this coming May. I will be going with my Mom, Aunt and Uncle. I will be spending a extra day in Paris, before heading home. I am jazzed and have been doing alot of research - and will continue. I wanted to wait to head to Europe until next year, but with my mom's cruise deal - it was now or never.

So, I have been posting on Facebook - so if you are not there you need to join many of us there. It's different, but fun.
January was a very busy month. I can't believe it's February. The older girls have been playing basketball games 3x per week and sometimes on Saturdays as well. It's been fun watching them, but crazy around here. Sarah is playing on the weekends.
We had our annual MLK Weekend at Eagle Crest with a whole bunch of families. It was very enjoyable chatting and playing games with everyone. I know the teens like getting together - playing sports, games, movies or whatever. I so enjoy the time over there - just hanging out with all my friends. Soon all the teens will be gone to college and it will be a "friends" get together - which will be awesome too.
I finally finished the soccer dvd of Brea. That was a huge task. My cousin Ted did alot of work on it.
Brea has decided FC is her first choice for college. Western Oregon University is second followed by Concordia U for third.
I heading out Wednesday for the FC Camp Directors conference. I am soooo jazzed to go. Kathy and I are flying out there together and will be returning on the 10th. I am really looking forward to talking with all of the other camp administrators and getting/sharing ideas. Kathy and I will be staying on the 3rd floor of Boswell. It will be soooo wierd to be staying on campus in a dorm - that was such a long time ago. Memories ....
Please keep baby Blake and their family in your prayers!
