good times

We had a busy weekend last weekend! We started off early Saturday morning by eating at our favorite breakfast place here in town... the Worleybird Cafe. It is the restuarant owned by Darryl Worley's mother and ex-wife. They have a great tenderloin platter! We ate with Sarah. Our friend Joe was going to join us, but he was a slacker and decided to sleep late. What a waste of a beautiful Saturday! Just kidding, I enjoy sleeping in myself. It was the place to be last Saturday morning though, I ran into my brother-in-law while we were there. After an enjoyable breakfast, we ran home and got Pep and our geocahing gear and headed to My nephew's soccer game. Our leisurely breakfast caused us to miss the first half, but we were able to see Mike's second and winning goal. After the game we decided to look for a cache there in that park. We discovered that it was hidden at a picnic pavalion, but we were unable to actually find it because there was a birthday party. Oh well, we will look again. By the time we left the park it was lunchtime, so home we went. We ate lunch then ventured back out to do some more geocahing. There was one cache that we had been wanting to look for for awhile so we grabbed Pepe and headed to Pickwick lake. There is a trail along the lake that leads to a pennisula and it's been too cold to look for that one until now. We hiked the trail and let Pep play in the water a bit before heading back and looking for the cache. We looked and looked, but we didn't find that one either! Though it's disappointing to not have any luck, we still had a very good day. By the time we got home my legs were burning. I had done step aeorbics on the wii fit the day before and add the walking trail at the park to the hiking trail at Pickwick, my legs were about done in for a couple of days!
Sunday was a good day as well. My niece, Emilea, had turned 9 the day before and I decided to try and give her a surprise birthday party. The girl has a knack for sniffing out surprises, so her mama and I were worried that we wouldn't pull it off, but it worked beautifully. Our whole family was able to come and join us at some time in the day. My daddy was the only one who didn't get to come, he is much more of a home-body after his ordeal a couple of summers ago. My brother-in-law Michael chartered a plane and flew himself, my sister Angie and their two precious girls up. My sister Sam, her hubby Clay and their little Amos were already planning on being in Memphis, so they came out of their way a bit to join the party in the late afternoon. My mama, Daphne, Stephen, Brittnye, Heather, Hannah and Beth came eaaarly Sunday morning. They had to leave about 20 minutes after Sam and Clay got there, but at least we were all able to be together for a little bit! After church Sunday night I was exhausted! I tried to go to bed early, but that didn't really happen, so I just slept embarrassingly late on Monday! :)
Monday afternoon Jonathan and I picked up Sarah and Emilea and headed to Memphis for the FC chorus and Wind concert. We had a great time. It was another late night, but I didn't get to sleep late on Tuesday. Emilea had spent the night and she is an early riser! She and I had a lot of fun with her webkinz and the wii.
Wednesday it was back to reality and a much needed slower pace!

Life

It seems that the past several months I have been living in limbo. Starting last July we were waiting on our little one. We met with a birthmother and things seemed to go well with that for a few months, until she made the decision to raise her son alone. That was a really hard thing for us, but we were comforted with the fact that "our" little boy would have christian influences in his life. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't think of him and love him, but I take comfort in the fact that his mother really, really wants to be his mother and that he has family members who are christians. While going through that process we were looking to buy our first house. We looked for a couple of months and finally decided that we loved the very first house that we looked at. It really was perfect for us! But, alas, that was not to be either. We were so disappointed at the time. I mean it seemed we were getting hits one right after the other. Now, we are glad that at least the house didn't work out. At the beginning of this year, merely a month after we would have moved into our perfect home, we decided that the time has come to move away from Savannah. It breaks our hearts to go. We would love to stay here and raise our children here among our friends and family, but it's not to be. The church here is doing well and I know that they will miss us as much as we miss them. We aren't really sure where we are going. Jonathan has tried out at Sycamore church of Christ, in Gravel Switch, Ky. He grew up there and his parents attend there. We would love to go "home" if that works out, but of course it may not. We are also looking into other places if that's not a go. It is a hard process and my least favorite part of being a preacher's wife to date! :) As hard as it is to think of moving away, I am ready to know where we are going and when. I'm ready to know something tangible again! I have really felt like a pilgrim these last few months and it does me good to remember that Savannah is not my home anyway. Heaven is my home and I will be a pilgrim as long as I am on this earth. But, I AM ready to get settled in a new place and start the adoption process again. Please pray that we find a church soon, and if anyone knows anyplace looking for a preacher, feel free to let me know! :)
Love, Trishie

Waiting is always the most difficult part for me - mostly the unknown. But it's amazing to see how things work out. Hoping things go smoothly for you in your move (whereever that may be) and that the health of your baby works out smoothly as well.

Remember that God cares for you and Jonathan, and even though you are feeling like you are just hanging out there, He knows the future!! You are in good hands!!! Try to remember that your job is to do the next right thing that is in front of you and before you realize it, you will have your next orders!!!! Prayers for you and Jonathan.

Shiny, Shiny Shiny and Shiny Black Face

All of my nieces and nephews are so fun to be around, but I have been greatly blessed to live so close to Emilea and Michael for so long. We get to have slumber parties, play video games together, go on little day trips, etc. I love being part of the little daily things in their lives. They are busy little bees sometimes and as close as we are, I don't get to spend as much time with them as I would like, be when we DO get to spend time together we have so much fun. One of my favorite Fun things about Emi and Mike is their creativity (?) when it comes to naming pets or stuffed animals. Their names always crack me up. Currently, they have three goldfish, a shiny one, a shinier one and a shiny one with a black face. Their names? Shiny, Shiny Shiny, and Shiny Black Face. They have a hamster named Hampsey, A kitty named Kitt-A (Kitt-A is in honor of our dog Pepe. When he was a puppy, they understood his name to be Pup-A and once he was a full grown dog, they didn't understand why he wasn't renamed Dog-A). They also have a black cat named Blackie. Their teddy bears are named Teddy and Bear. They have a stuffed Raccoon named Racky. With the Webkinz that they are getting these days, they have more of an opportunity to let their creative juices flow. They have Cowie the cow, Robby the Robin, Pengy the Penguin, and Lulu the Blue Fadadoodle. These are just the ones that I remember. It always makes me laugh to hear them talking about their animals, so I just thought I would share! :)

Ha! My brother had the same level of creativity. Our cat had kittens when we were little and there names were: Tiger, Blackie, Rainbow, and Blackish-gray! That last one was my favorite! Isn't that hilarious!

Thanks for the prayers. It will be good to come down in few months. Clint said, "We could have gone home for Christmas." I said, "Yeah, and would probably have had the baby." Anyway, I know it will happen soon enough.

    Take care.

Have yourself a Merry Little Christmas

That is my favorite christmas song. Maybe because I love Meet Me in St. Louis so much. Maybe it's just Judy Garland, who knows? it's just so nostalgic to me. I love it.

Jonathan and I spent the night in Nashville earlier this week and it was just what the doctor ordered. We had such a great time. We stayed close to Opry Mills on Monday night. On Tuesday, we did some shopping, and at OM that took all day! :) Before we went home, we met my mama and some of my sisters for dinner at Cock of the Walk and then went to Opryland Hotel to look at the lights. Jonathan and I love getting to do that every year. I couldn't believe it, but the younger girls said that they have never been to Opryland Hotel! It was fun seeing their reactions to the lights and the water show. We got home very late that night, but it was a great little trip.

I hope that you all have been having a great week!

Love, Trishie

Many have recorded that song. IMHO, no performance has ever measured up to Judy Garland's rendition from MMISL. John Denver and the Muppets came close ;o), but Judy Garland's was clearly the best.

I lent my DVD of that movie to Jacky's Mom. I hope she gives it back soon because I want to watch it again soon!! :) Glad you all had such a nice trip! I have really been in the mood to watch Christmas movies lately. We watched White Christmas a couple of days ago and It's a Wonderful Life a few days before that. I love watching the old Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, too!

Listened to Mannheim Steamroller's version of that song last night. It's quite good, but still falls short of the original.
